(EXHIBITION) Towson, Sat., Oct. 18, 2p, ESPN+

the lack of real primary ball handler will be something that we just have to overcome this year, don’t know if darling is gonna help in that department especially against top teams
Could be right, albeit a small sample.

Playing psychologist here but seems to me that Darling is being especially cognizant of accepting his new role and just trying to set the table for his teammates. It's obviously a big difference from his role last year where he was asked to do everything. Make take him a bit to find the right balance as he may have been a little too passive today.

Thoughts defensively?

Fair, also fair to say I may have been overly optimistic about him. This may be one of those “the truth is somewhere in the middle equations”.

Towson was hunting him in the first half and specifically set some G to G screens to get him matched up with Williamson. I think he's competing hard on that end but will obviously be the weak link and it's a good thing we have dudes like Dillon and Zuby that can bail him out. Will hopefully find out more next week against Michigan against better athletes.

He definitely isn't soft as he's shown no issues getting into the mix for some tough rebounds.

Hopkins missed the Darling dunk on purpose to give some redfans more ammo that Darling might not be the guy
If Darling can't handle pressure from these guys, he won't be playing much, come Big East. This isn't even a high pressure team.

That being said, he's played tough D a couple of times down the stretch.

A lot of this game was ugly but I’m very encouraged.

We are loaded with talent and depth. We will wind up one of the best defensive teams in the country, again.

Offensively, as I said earlier, will take some time for everyone to establish and embrace their roles, but I’m confident we will be a buzzsaw come Feb/March
