They already areUnder that scenario, the players would be making substantially more than professors, and most deans. There is just no way that is going to happen.

But they are not being paid by the school with school funds. They are being paid by the NIL boosters / sponsors. Big difference. They already are
Coaches are not 20 years old with no work experience.Coaches are the highest paid employees in states, let alone universities, all across the country. No one bats an eye.
I've seen enough games to make a couple of observations that might not be well accepted by the fan base but here goes:
1. We would have won more games this year had we kept last year's roster intact and supplemented it with a few additions
2. Pitino tried to get the these guys to play his system rather than adjusting to the talents and abilities of his players. Never works.
If those players are selling out MSG because of their skill, guarantee no one cares.Coaches are not 20 years old with no work experience.
And players are much more valuable to the school than any individual professor or deanCoaches are not 20 years old with no work experience.
Who’s being naive now, KayBut they are not being paid by the school with school funds. They are being paid by the NIL boosters / sponsors. Big difference.
Yeah against cup cake teams . Sorry but I disagreeLet’s face it, if we would have ran this season back with Anderson and last years team plus Yaxel , Gardner and whoever else we might have portaled in , we would have had a much better season. It’s embarrassing to admit but it’s true. What a complete and utter F’ing dumpster fire this program has become. I blame to players for not at least giving defensive effort for 40 minutes a game which takes nothing but grit and determination. But, I blame Pitino also for the way he’s handled this. You realize you screwed up and brought in the wrong type of players, just take the high road , ride it out and bring in the players you need next year. Instead Pitino has just exacerbated the dysfunction of this team with his statements.
So what % of the players' compensation is coming directly from the school, then vs outside NIL? (The former being illegal.)Who’s being naive now, Kay
Actually DePaul isWe are laughing stock of college bball right now. RP is not a liked man by others. We are our record no matter how close we have lost games. Hind sight is 20-20 could talk all day about what ifs. The only hope we have at this point is the RP hates losing and is not a loser and will do whatever it takes to get back to winning. I don’t think RP wants to go out like this on his last dance.
DePaul, Georgetown, LouisvilleActually DePaul is
The truth hurts. He is telling the players exactly the way he sees it. I honestly think this is his last ditch effort to get the kids to step up. He is screaming at them to get back on defense in a game. They will not do it. Shows some heart dig a little deeper. Soriano as captain will go down as his biggest mistake. He is setting no example for his teammates. By his apathy on defense.Look, Pitino is pissed off because despite this teams deficiencies, if they we willing to do the things that need to be done to win that you don’t need talent to do we would have three or four more wins. I’m talking about getting back on defense in the open court and grinding out every defensive possession in the half court etc. These players are just not willing to give that type of effort for whatever reason and it’s killing Pitino. I share in his anger and frustration and agree with him. He’s not wrong in what he’s saying he should just know enough to be more diplomatic in the way he says it.
In the future, I predict the % would be coming from the TV contracts + sales at the gate. Two things that college professors have nothing to do with.So what % of the players' compensation is coming directly from the school, then vs outside NIL?
Wow, that's a scary thought. But I guess I'm one of those crazy people who thinks academics are what define the quality of a university. And players are much more valuable to the school than any individual professor or dean
Pitino’s comments would be distasteful for an nba coach. Came off as egotistical and arrogant. One thing to fault effort and another to criticize their athleticism. What are the kids supposed to do with that? Pitino’s presser was all about Pitino as usualThe players all angled for more money and sell themselves to the highest bidder.
He is telling the truth about effort and their athletic abilities. These are hired guns. Who will not run back on defense. He should call them out. They’re not college students they’re basketball mercenaries.
I do not think doing it publicly is helpful but he is being honest.
Yuo, college sports are over. They are pros now. Most making more then the fans.College basketball, the sport that I have loved for more than half a century is dead. I have to consider whether or not I want to find another interest. Too much money involved now for me to have blind loyalty to my school. This year provided very little joy after the Pitino hire. I bought in. Fool me once......
