Ellison and Williams

More upset about Williams -- savvy, smart, and seasoned bigs arent a dime a dozen as we all know too well. And I know I gave Ellison a lot of crap but I would have definitely rather he stayed then left now. I think a year off will do him wonders wherever he lands. Good luck to both and welcome to our soon to be incoming players.

Agree on Williams, Ellison just a numbers squeeze. Good luck to both.

Never happy to see players leave, but one has to think Ellison's departure suggests Lovett will likely stay. If Lovett left, Ellison would undoubtedly have received plenty of PT next year and his transfer wouldn't make sense.

Sorry to see Williams leave. I liked Jim a lot.

LoVett had a video on social media today of him at class and on campus, that has to be a good sign.

3 thoughts immediately popped into my head.

1. Lovett is returning.
2. Simon and Clark must be the real deal.
3. We've got reinforcements coming to the frontcourt.

Shame about both of them. I thought they had places on next year's team. Williams especially.

Not real places if your numbers 1, 2 and 3 are true and reinforcements are coming.

I had it in my head that Yakwe would be the first to transfer. Do those in the know sense whether that is a possibility? Put another way, donothers sense any other potential defections on the horizon?

In the know? No one posted recently anything about Williams or Ellison transferring.

I posted a while back that since Simon was practicing, if Ellison transfers it is a pretty good sign Simon is real deal.
Good luck to both.

We should be good in the backcourt if indeed Marcus is returning. With Williams gone, we need 2 or 3 BIGs for NEXT year, not just the following year.

Good point. Sometimes I think those that are truly in the know have the good judgment not to disclose these things before they become public.

Ellison has been speculated about on the boards

So than what good is it? ;) :)

Both seem like good kids. They presented themselves well while here. Basketball wise, we wish we had more from them. Good luck to both wherever they land. Next men up...

With all due respect to both kids, this has got to be a good sign for us. Williams was a decent roll player in limited minutes on one of the worst front lines of any team in the country. With the addition of Clark and another possible big body or bodies, can't see him getting much PT next year. My only concern is if he decided to transfer to LSU. Malik showed sporadic promise, but my sense is that with the return of Lovett and with the addition of Simon and possibly someone else, his roll would have gotten smaller next season. And he is a kid who is always looking for a larger roll. I thank both kids for their contributions to the program, and wish them luck in their future endeavors.

We always need BIGS

It's been raised before, but wondering how this sits with dad Purvis, who has ties to some good NJ talent. Just thinking out loud.
