Cleveland State transfer Rasheem Dunn just got done with his visit to Siena and said it "went great." He'll visit St. John's from Aug. 1 to 3.

Will be seeking a waiver and if obtained, would have 2 years of eligibility remaining. It is not clear to me on what basis such a waiver would be sought. Redshirted and never played at last stop, Cleveland State, though i'm sure practices were rigorous. Mikey Dixon c'mon down!!

Now this is a kid I'd love to see on next years squad.

Stats seem to say he is more of an SG than a PG, but still, averaging 15pts and 6 boards are nice numbers.

Low shooting % and 1:1 assist to TO in NEC. Would probably pass.

Many on this board didn't care for Mikey Dixon, and I have a hard time believing he's better than Mikey. What's new isn't always what's good.[/quote]

My understanding is that blind faith in the staff with this sort of decision should be trumping a casual glance at his stats on ESPN until further notice.

I'm more than willing to give this staff the benefit of the doubt when it comes to selecting players that fit into their system and I think that's where most on this board stands. Neither benefit of the doubt nor optimism should be categorized as blind faith, especially given CMA and his staff's track record of success.

As my good friend JPM114 tells me, Dunn’s physicality and defense must be main appeal to staff. Obviously he is not a good perimeter shooter, but JPM pointed out he has good middle game.

Just sharing the thoughts of a skilled evaluator who has seen him.

We need me more depth at the 1. We could do much worse than Dunn. I mean he has better stats than Rutherford for what it's worth and most on here like him. Should have no problems getting a waiver I would assume.

Just confused by the fit - if plan is for him to be eligible this year, we just brought in Rutherford to fill the minute gap with Heron, Williams, Wright and McGriff already in tow. If for next year, we have about 50 recent offers out to 2020 guards. Plus a bunch of JUCO offers out.

I am a bit confused by this pursuit, but sometimes there are other factors like a current player not impressing in early workouts. Don’t know one way or the other, but seems prudent to believe staff has their reasons. With all the chaos at CSU & Dunn sitting out a year, getting waiver seems quite possible.

We had to plug holes the last minute, hence the recruitment of Rutherford. Now is the time to concentrate on higher ranked players. Agree w another recent post stating 50 to 150 should be our sweet spot.

At maximum he uses a scholarship for 1-2 years, and we lose Rutherford after this season. Not a big risk roster-wise if they think he can help us. Another local kid who can play at both ends and score. Let’s let the staff work and see what they can do. We are going to lose a lot next year player-wise. I bet we lose at least 1-2 to transfer as well. I’d rather ithat he have one year eligibility so that it doesn’t impact us at all moving forward, but doubt it hurts us tremendously.

50-150 should always be our aim. We can consistently win with players of that caliber.

Not crazy about going after players that aren’t pursued by high majors. But trust MA.

Sounds like it would be Rutherford or McGriff not impressing if they are pursuing Dunn with the thought that he could get the waiver. And I think I remember someone saying that McGriff was looking good.

A hint would be nice . . . but I don't want to hear it if Williams isn't playing well.
