As far as Hicks goes, it is GREAT PR for SJU if local guys like Hicks are getting NBA jobs.

If Hicks does leave, I am sure it has a lot to do with Lavin and Dunlap's relationship. It really cements SJU's spot in the NYC basketball community by sending local coaches on. Local AAU and HS guys will love us as is already evident with Morton swooning. I'm not sure most people realize how powerful a message it sends, but I'm certain Lavin knows every bit how powerful it makes him in NYC circles as well as nationally to send Dunlap and Hicks to the league. I can't help but admire the work that Lavin does etching his way into this spot at SJU. Truly artful.

CRgreen. One article mentioned that Lavin knows Abatemarco from Sacramento State which is a question you had asked. 

 

Re: Abatemarko/Lavin, I was pretty sure that was the case. Seems like Steve knows everyone from Video Cooridators on up at every school he's ever played against or visited!

As for Hicks and a potential Bobcat's job - doesn't that really rest on what kind of relationship Moe and Mike have had the last 2 years? Has Moe been working with Mike on organizing practices? Strategy Sessions? Off-season training? Camp organization? Logistics? As someone else said earlier in the thread - there are a lot of responsibilities that translate from College to Pro that don't include actual coaching experience.

What Moose was referring to (I assume) is an NCAA rule that you can't sign a player if you hired his hs/aau coach within the last 2 years. (I'm paraphrasing, but something like that).

So if we hired Tiny.. it would make it illegal for us to recruit Isaiah.

That's fine. McCullough lately has been on the Nova package deal thing with Chambers. Whitehead by all indications will stay local so yeah that would be us and Cuse fighting till the end I'm sure.

 I personally would think that Dunlap would want more of a seasoned coaching staff... With all due respect to Mo, being a HS coach and a DOBO in college doesn't seem to fit. Pretty much anyone else on the current staff would make moe sense than Mo

 

The bobcats roster has less talent than some high school teams. A former be coach might fit in well.
