Duke Game Thread

@BlueDevilLair: WOAH. Rasheed Sulaimon has been dismissed from the Duke program. Woah. Just woah.

Noticed he was in Coach K dog house.

Wow. Harrison's friend. I don't know what the infraction was, but considering how it's turned out for Harrison, I'm really glad that Lavin didn't cut the cord when he could have. Finally Lavin is one up on Coach K.

@AustinKarp: Fox got 2.17 million viewers for Duke-St-John's last Sunday for net's best college hoops audience on record (Coach K's 1,000th win).

How soon would he be able to play for us? Just because Coach K failed with him doesn't mean that Lavin wouldn't be able to turn him into a great player/person.

Depending on how close they are I wouldn't be shocked if Harrison got in his ear immediately. Then of course, lots of folks on here would say that we don't want someone else's problem.

it's funny how a college basketball program dismissed a player and that same team blew a 10 point 2nd half lead last night......nice to see those things don't just happen to SJU!.....

A quick stop with Lucas and he'll be good to go.

That depends on on what kind of problem it is and, lets be real, how talented the kid is.

Of course he should be dismissed if the violation(s) were egregious. If you read the quotes from Sulaimon after his participation in the USA team, where he was a starter under Head Coach Donovan and Assistant Coach Smart, he seemed like a really good kid with his head screwed on straight. Of course they were just quotes, but Sulaimon, who is a first generation American (his parents are Nigerian and Jamaican) spoke intelligently about how proud he was to win for America, and how proud he is to be American. Speaking to his talent, he was a starter on that team, and also played on the pre-USA 18u team the prior year. To be real, if he really is a good kid who needs a change of scenery, it's far more likely he ends up at Florida or VCU.

As always Beast, you're keepin' it real. ;) I know why kids play for K, I sometimes wonder how they can tolerate him. At times he's a cross between Bobby Knight(his mentor) and Mike Rice. But of course he's K, so no one would dare call him out on it

Well it is not just us who Duke ran down late, because tonight undefeated nineteen and zero number two Virginia was up eleven at home with under ten minutes left. Then they were up eight with under five minutes left only to be blitzed by an eleven to zero Duke run in the last three minutes and lose 69 to 63. Duke's talent level is great and although they are not there yet, this was a very impressive performance late.

Was going to take Duke, figuring they were due and Va was due for a loss. Line was 6.5 which seemed to good to be true, so I backed off. In hindsight.......

Thanks Monte. The curse of being Coach K and coach of Duke is that you can banish a kid for disciplinary reasons, and reload with equivalent talent almost effortlessly. In Sulaimon's case, I wonder if Coach K ran out of patience when his performance declined after an excellent freshman year. After all, a rat doesn't just look like a rat, he acts like one, too.

Hahaha. Thats for sure. Funny how the camera rarely pans him when he's going on one of his tirades. Can't be doing anything to tarnish the image of Saint K.

I doubt he would do that at this point in the season. At the end yes, but not now leaving him with a short bench (8 Scholarship players0

And guess who was mainly responsible for their comeback - that's right, Jones and Cook.
