I just got the same email, so it seems they weighed their options for a few days and just made the decision.

Interesting. I was starting to think that Lavin might be recruiting Artis as a favor to his west-coast friends. Having SJU seemingly interested would "legitimize" Artis for other schools.

But the situation has actually done more harm than good to Artis. How often does an AD send out a bulk email announcing to the fan base that the school has "discontinued our recruitment" of a player? Not very.

I guess we could speculate almost any scenario. In my brief exchanges with Monasch after games, I know he HATES losing. I think Monasch hates losing even more than he loves winning. My guess is that when Artis was invited here, Lavin wasn't a cowboy doing it on his own, and had the okay from the AD. My guess is that either the on site didn't go well from a number of perspectives, or that when the school started to weigh what public reaction would be (including on here), they decided to pass.

I am really getting a kick out of Maven on twitter bashing lavin on this situation. I do believe there is a lot of blame but the guy doesn't have balls to at least call Lavin out by his twitter handle so Lavin can see this.

I guess he wants to still be able to hang out with him down the road.

He would have never brought him on campus if Lavin was not heavily involved. They kicked the tires on this one and in the end it just wasn't right.

We can argue about kicking the tires at all but everyone was on board that it is best they don't ultimately offer him.

Since I still am pretty much illiterate when it comes to twitter on that last tweet did that imply one of the coaches tweeted saying tweets would get them fired and hurt their family ?

I'm not sure who will take him right off the bat. If anything, he should do a year at juco -- not play, just study -- and if he can keep his nose clean, someone will take him. And while he's at it, someone with half a brain in his inner circle should tell him to volunteer at a women's shelter or rape crisis center.

He's too good for D-2 or NAIA, so I think he just needs to lay low for a year and see what happens after that.
