Funny thing is, it was a post by MainMan, who was probably being sarcastic because he always is. But damn, at least we know they read the site now

Probably sarcastic? Definitely sarcastic. I guess D'Lo doesn't read the site that much, haha.

Just goes to show, MM was making the point that you don't have to take personal shots at guys when expressing an opinion. I stick to the game threads because I don't know any insiders, recruitment wise, and so many of the threads have been negative, which is understood to a point, that "contributing" to them seems pointless.

Maybe this is why PGIV and CO wanted to transfer. Everybody on this site bashes them to no end. Why should they play for a fan base that has no respect for the work they put in and what they contribute?

Agree, but I hope our guys realize that this site represents only a fraction of all SJU fans. And we don't all feel the same way about the players and the coach.

First off, I doubt this at all factored into their consideration of transferring.

Secondly, IF a message board post(s) is why a player at a high-major school decides to transfer, it likely just as much signifies a lack of mental toughness on the player's part as it does anything else. If a player like Chris or Phil have aspirations to play basketball at the next level, whether that be in the NBA, D-League or overseas, they're going to have to get used to scrutiny and people posting stuff about them.

Every high-major program has a message board, so if a tiny itsy bitsy fraction of players from high-major programs were to transfer because of a message board, its likely a reflection on the player. Do people sometimes go overboard in terms of what they post about a player or coach? Sure. But these things get said about players nationwide and very little fuss is made about it from players.

While I do agree that some of the bashing on here is a little ridiculous and, sometimes, relentless and repetitive. the nature of a message board/forum is for posters to rant about what's bothering them or blowing off steam. Honestly, do you not think players on Kentucky, or Kansas, or Duke, or *insert whatever team you want* don't get bashed on their respective team's message boards? They do; they all do at some point. Sad thing is, no matter who you are, if you are any kind of a public figure, chances are you're going to catch crap on the Internet at some point. This, laughably, is a rather tame site 98 percent of the time in comparison to some of the other boards I've read/contributed to.

I have a pretty simple rule when it comes to posting (on any board): I don't say anything that I wouldn't say in "real" life. Ever. I don't like your generalization that "everyone on this site bashes them," because that's not true. If they wanted to transfer, someone's insensitive post on this site (or any site) is probably the least of their issues.

Quick, somebody make a Phil Greene thread. :)

Seriously though, that post was full-on sarcasm. Truth of the matter is not every "fan" will like every player for whatever reason it may be.

I'm sure fans in opposing arenas say much worse.

If this is something D'Lo needs to motivate himself then fine.

But his own professional aspirations should be motivating him much more than random people on a message board.

Every coach and player reads the boards for their respective schools. They are human. Think about it, if there was a thread about where Jack Williams will go to college, wouldn't you read it? Or what about a thread about Jack Williams lilttle league career or who he is taking to the prom?

I thought Mainman's post was funny, but as a resident of Texas, I object to the "shaved eyebrow's" remark... :cheer:

Hopefully today makes some posters think twice before posting about one of our players. MainMan I know you were being sarcastic, but knowing that the players read the site should change the way we talk about the players.

Guinness brings up a good point about only posting things you would also say in reality.

Some of the posts about Greene, obekpa, and karr have been wrong over the past couple weeks, and hopefully we all can think twice before posting now knowing for sure the players read the site.

I get your point, but saying Sampson shouldnt have signed with an agent is acceptable imo. He isnt going to get drafted, horrible decision- still can't figure it out.

So does this mean I'll get a piece of the net next year?

This is hysterical, Mainman.
You were being sarcastic in your original post, right?

You get negative karma for not realizing MainMan was being sarcastic.

he gets negative karma for not realizing that ALL of MainMan's posts are sarcastic. And I know a thing or two about negative karma.
LMFAO, though.

Message to D'Angelo and other SJU players.

Dont read this board, nor the other one. It really does you no good to listen to the rantings of frustrated fanatics.
I youre reading now. STOP.
