Detroit Game

Really unnecessary unless his violation was very serious which I doubt. If Lavin keeps doing this, I wouldn't be shocked to see him up and leave. We need him, he doesn't need us. We should remember that.

hahaha...you're a funny guy, bruh

SJU as we know it is in his hands

There's actually nothing funny about it. If Harrison leaves our program is set back a few years instantly. Look at Lindsey...he thought Dunlap was a hard ass and he up and left. It doesn't take much for kids to leave. These players receive nothing but praise before they come to SJ with their amazing talents. Then a guy like Harrison comes here, scores the most points ever as a SJ freshman, and we bench him for 2 games and psychologically bench him for a 3rd? I think he deserves a little more respect. Again, it all depends on what he did but judging by the 3 penalties it must have been bad. If it wasn't that bad, Lavin has to relax and understand his ego might be fragile.

You have no idea what D'Angelo did.

So how are you determining that the punishment does not fit the crime?

I clearly stated I do not know what he did nor does anyone on here. But what could he have possibly done to warrant 2 real benchings and 1 psychological one? Seems harsh for almost every scenario in regards to what he did. Like I said, if he is failing a class or got into a fight with a teammate or something then I can see it, but not for much else.

Well if you clearly stated that you don't know, leave it alone. D'Angelo stated that he is all right with coming off the bench so that is all that matters. He has not uttered one word about transferring, that has come from you. I doubt that D'Angelo called you and said that he was considering transferring.
I rarely respond to posts but I just have gotten tired of your conspiracy theories. As a fan of St. Johns basketball for over 50 years and also an Alumnus, I root for the team and let the coaches and players do their jobs. Maybe you should consider doing the same.

I agree its not funny and would think it makes no sense for him to go. However, young adults today think they know it all, are beholden to no one and have nothing left to learn. When someone tries to help them they often respond immaturely and emotionally rather than taking a step back and turning it into a learning moment. Quite often this results in irrational conflicts simply because the youngster hasn't been taught how to listen and consider before responding on an emotional level. I hope DLo tries to make this a learning moment rather than reacting like the hothead he looked like most of last year. Kid has a wealth of talent but just as obviously had a lot of growing up to do last year.

I would rather have a hot-headed kid that gets me to the NCAA tournament than a hot-headed kid who transfers and leaves our program in shambles. A lot of these kids come from hardened backgrounds with broken homes and low incomes. I think that should be taken into consideration. Some kids respond well to tough love and others respond negatively. I guess we will figure out which of those is true for D'Lo. By the way, how was he a hot head last year? What examples did you use to come to that conclusion? Not saying that in an accusatory manner, I'm honestly just wondering because I can't remember seeing anything that stuck out to me.

Seriously? Were you watching last year? He came to the school with a rep as a hot head and certainly lived up to it. Showed a lack of control and class quite frequently. Frequently jawing at refs, opponents, other teams bench, his teammates. The kid does have issues and I hope Lavin can straighten him out. If I wasnt' a fan of his and the team I'd be tempted to call him a punk. I don't care where you were brought up, that type of posturing is immature at best. Of course I probably feel this way because I'm old (I thought 50 was the new 30?). But given the way you post I can understand that you probably wouldn't have seen it the same way I saw it. Generation gap continues.
I watched Justin Burrell gripe about calls for four years and never saw any reaction to it. I also watched Evans NEVER gripe about a call in four years and find his way to the dog house. I don't know whether referee baiting is really the central problem. What I do know though is that DLo deserves to start on this team. I hope all the self-imposed disruption doesn't cost us a win vs Detroit though.

I think deep down you hope it does so that you have something to refer back to in every single one of your posts for the next three seasons.

Sprinkle in the Evans references as well.

Felix has been freed!

@STJ_Basketball: The Mink Man with the scoop of the day so far... Freshman guard Felix Balamou is likely to get some burn, per @STJCoachLavin. #stjbb

great news if true!!

I believe it's true, as the source is claiming to have gotten the info from Lavin.

1 out of 4. I guess that's better then 0-4

Made sense the entire time.
We now have 3 pure scholarship guards suiting up today.
Still, only 3.

Panther, if you think I'm the only one with theories and speculation on here then you don't read many posts. People have said much crazier. So he would never consider transferring just because he hasn't announced it? Going back to my "press conference" theory, coaches and players will almost never tell you the truth. Were there warning signs for Lindsey transferring? No...he just up and left. I also think the whole Harrison thing is exaggerated with jawing at people. I watched every televised game I could and went to 2 in person and never once saw him going off more than any other player. Maybe you guys saw it in person and it wasn't caught on TV? I don't know but all I can tell you is what I saw. By the way, if this stuff keeps up with Harrison, it's not a conspiracy theory at all...it's a real possibility. These are 19 year old kids, not mature adults who think things through before they make decisions. You can be very impulsive at 19.

That all depends upon whether someone would consider this a sign that Lavin doesn't expect to see Marco ever hit the court.

Right, but Harrison wants to go pro, perhaps as soon as after this year. If he transfers, he would have to sit out until second semester next year. Then only plays for a couple/few months next year. Also, I do believe the NBA isn't looking for guys that are transferring due to behavioral reasons. It's a red flag. So I highly doubt that there is anyway that D'lo transfers. obviously there is more behind the scenes then any of us know, and just leave it at that. D'lo has been positive about everything thus far in regards to this. Let it go.

I'm at the point where I just want to know who is playing...If Marco and Orlando aren't, then so be it. We just move forward. Does it suck and hurt the team? Of course, however no reason to dwell on it. Let's get our roster set and get the season rolling

I didn't think he handled himself poorly at all. I liked that he played with passion. He didn't get a bunch of tech's or start any fights. If he is a punk what was Matt Brust, Jayson Williams or Kevin Williams? It is funny, I think most on these boards overate him as a player, but I think the way he handles himself on the court has been way overblown!

Thank you. Someone else finally. He can't be that bad if I watched every televised game last year and never saw him jawing or heard the announcers mention it. Even 35 year old NFL players are jawing at the refs every game. Give the kid a break...it's not like he pulled a Sprewell on the refs lol.

Obviously I hope Marco and Sanchez get cleared. But I cant figure out what is so complicated, that the NCAA cant resolve this before the season starts.
