Funny, I was thinking about the box rule for coaches while I was watching the game last night. Nebraska's coach and Crean spent considerable time outside of it, on one play I though Crean was open for a shot he was so far on the floor. Obviously refs are on alert for that recurring behavior after teams complain and Mullin has gotten grief for sitting on the table because of it but not for personal reasons.
And while Coach does have Pacers history and Bird's endorsement, Indiana is very much an amateur sports state with a long memory. They love Coach as much for being on Knight's '84 Olympic gold medal team.

It's kind of a dumb rule, because coaches like to bark out instructions to players, and at the D1 level, if you shout form the bench it is virtually impossible to be heard at times. It's why Jarvis coded his plays and had junior hold up signs. A lot of refs overlook it, and some coaches wander way past the mid court line to yell to his team. The bigger the coach's name, the more they get away with.
