Kranmars and MJDinkins, I agree completely!
Amateur night, like on NYE people drink who are not used to drinking and its embarrassing to watch --- for us professionals.
V-Day, we went, years ago, to a fine Italian restaurant we like. They packed the place and moved out all larger tables to fit in tables just for two. It was cheek to jowl, every nook and cranny covered. You felt like you were dining with the couple next to you, the tables were NYC close.
The regular menu was unavailable, the prix fix menu had limited selections and much higher prices and a dessert we didn't want.
They rushed us to get "another turn".
It happened the next year at a different place and we vowed not to do V-Day dinner again. Pick another night and have a much better experience. That way be assured to be able to watch the two Vincentian powerhouses go at it.
DePaul seemed the bring the best out of us last time, but it's away and with this team who knows; I'll root for a win but am not overly confident the Valentines' Johnnies will deliver me one.
