DePaul, Tue., Dec. 17, 6:30p, Peacock

what we think we see tonight:
Starting: Dev / Kadary / RJ / Scott / Zuby ..?
Bench: Sim / Prey / Brady / Jaiden...

Think Rick keeps the rotation real tight the first half.... rotating 7 guys the first 15-20 mins...

this... Everyone here should understand and digest this.... We Will Lose a game we "shouldn't". It's going to happen. This is the Big East- players are Good. Even though they didnt perform as they should have in the OOC... on any given night, we can lose, and we will.

Doesn't mean we don't dance... doesnt mean we won't get 14 Conf wins... doesn't mean the team stinks... Losses happen.

Enjoy the season fellas
Say we were 12-0 (we're this close ('') to that being a fact). Would we think we were capable of 15+ wins in conference?

I know he was a expensive acquisition but , to me starting Kadary over Wilcher is a bad move , short term and long term .
First of all , Richmond and Smith don’t blend together .
Second , no matter how you look at it , not starting Sim is not what Rick promised him for this year .
Sure , things change but , Wilcher has to be disappointed he’s not getting the starting nod tonight or any night .
He’s also a long term investment , unless he bolts this off season . Richmond is the 3 timer transferee , not going to play for us after March .

We all know Rick can spin his way out of any situation and will do so with Wilcher .
And , to me , so far Richmond hasn’t delivered enough to justify our investment . He’s a piece in the mix but , not the dominant piece .
Zuby has that honors so far .

Completely agree on Richmond - will need him to step up in some big games especially on the defensive end when we need him to guard a bigger guard.

A couple points I wanted to make regarding this-

1) just because Richmond and Smith haven’t exactly meshed yet, I don’t think that’s some sort of evidence that they can’t or shouldn’t start together. It’s still only December, there’s a lot of season left. These guys both played for different teams in different systems last year. Now is not the time to just “give up” on them being able to play together. I think them getting more reps and playing time alongside each other is important

2) Sim can be disappointed, sure. But we don’t actually know who was promised what by Rick. I’m sure Kadary signed on thinking he’d be a starter, maybe you could say the same about Devion. What if they were “promised” starting spots? Personally I think too much goes into who starts and who doesn’t. Wilcher will get his opportunities as will the other guys. They gotta execute when in the game

3) I think the whole “we could have Wilcher for 2 more years but only have Kadary this year” is a losing mentality. It should not factor into the thinking of our rotation whatsoever. We are here to win and win now. If Kadary gives us a better chance to do that he’s gonna play. And I’ve been plenty critical of Kadary so far this year, but also don’t think Wilcher should be babied which is kind of the vibe I’m getting from your POV

+1000. I've been saying all year that we essentially have 6 starter level players. Which 5 start in any given game is not that important; they will all get plenty of minutes and who finishes is really more important. Sim is an excellent foul shooter and if he plays well in any given game he will be on the floor at the end.
Also completely agree that Rick will and should play those guys who he feels give him the best chance of winning, especially once you get into conference play

See don’t get why people down on Sim. He has been fine. In fact Sim and Smith is our best backcourt. Unfortunately that won’t be able to happen.

The only teams in the BE we can afford to lose to this year are , Marquette, UCONN and split with Xavier and Creighton .
As a minimum , we should win 1 of 4 against the top 2 and 2 of 4 would be ideal .
No losses to any of the other BE teams .
We need to beat Marquette and UConn once each.

I’m not down on sim. He’s had some good games this year. He’s starting to play offense with more confidence which I like to see. My point is if we’re starting him it should be for the right reasons

i don't think anyone is "down" on Sim... think people are more "down" on Kadary given the reported NIL commitment.

we have 6 "Start-able" players... someone has to be 6th man...
