I tweeted to FS1 about how bad Simpkins is/was.

Don't know if this was mentioned earlier but did anyone hear announcer Simpkins call us Redmen twice.

Yes. He also rambled about some of the dumbest stuff I have ever heard from a commentator.

Maybe it's just me but, I happen to like still hearing the team referred to as Redmen. It worked for 100 years before the PC police took over. And, if anyone recalls the Name originated from a long ago NY Sportswriter who referred to the team as Redmen , because they wore Red and White Uniforms. Nothing to do with Indians until later on..The Indian mascot could have been replaced while still retaining the Nickname but, it won't happen. As for Simpkins, many of the BE Broadcasts on Fox Sports have former BE players doing the Color Commentary. Our own Tarik Turner being one too.

Simpkins Played for Providence and then , NBA. He was a monster on the glass. While many of these Announcers are not National names , nor are they glib commentators, I like the idea we get them on these Fox Broadcasts. I thought Simpkins did a good job with Mullin on the post game interview and, it was clear they knew each other well. They kibbitzed about the Studio and who was back there. It was good. Only my opinion.

Will be interesting to see if we try to press Creighton. Made sense with Butler, given their primary ball handlers. Ditto with Depaul, whose guards are big and cagey, but can be a bit slow-footed. Creighton obviously a different animal with the best PG in the conference (and one of the best in the country IMO) and others who seem to be capable of handling the ball well against pressure.

You can be the best in the country but it always comes down to match-ups Maybe if we put ellison on him elision's particular style of play just gives him problems optimistic aren't I

A regression/clobbering wouldn't shock me. Nor would our 4th W in a row. My point being, nothing this team does anymore shocks me. As I said before the DePaul game, I no longer make predictions. I just kick back (Paultz will vouch for how relaxed I am at the games), enjoy the games and hope for the best.

For the first time in at least a year, I am actually anxious to watch a SJU basketball game. I'm reserving judgment on the staff, but I am excited, and really enjoy seeing our guards prosper and step up in big moments.

The last 3 games, it looks like our coaching staff is headed in the right direction.

Patton is terrific and the player we all hoped Sima would develop into but patience is a virtue.

My Dad actually called me during game to ask "who is that idiot commentator." Tried to explain who he was but my dad couldn't remember his distinguished career. In defense of Simpkins my dad doesn't know anyone's name and refers to every player from every game by their number. He will call me up about some random football game and tell me number 82 is really fast.

Number 82 is really fast.
