Kansas beat us at MSG the year before, on a pair of free throws, after we blew a sizeable lead.

I remember KU beat us a few weeks prior, as you stated espken, in Lawrence as the game was televised on USA Network during the '87-'88 season.
We lost that game at Kansas in the locker room after pregame warmups…the crowd was going crazy stomping their feet…our locker room was so loud from all the noise that they couldn’t hardly hear Coaches talk. The look on our teams faces hearing Rock Chalk Jayhawks was knowing a beat down was coming. And we did get smacked!

Anniversary of when they filmed at the MSG game vs Marist
We know that but why are we celebrating it. Seems totally random and desperate. I was at that game too and no one knew or cared. And that remains true today. Weird.

This actually had me thinking. Can anyone recall a team we've played at CA that brought out a sizeable fan representation? Id actually be curious to hear, because I've always been under the impression opposing fans so not show up to games at CA.
Miami had a good showing when Rick Barry came in with his top ten ranked team. We won by one with Rick taking last second shot as time ran out at midcourt. I thought Lou was going to tackle Barry as he ran down court a yard from sideline Rick was dribbling down.
Fast forward 30 years and my nephew and I meet Barry at Morton’s midtown where he is eating alone on bar table as we are. He accepts our invitation to join us. He was in town to announce game.

Barry remembered every play of that game. Knew Lou was on his heels . Said their pg was sick that game and did not play, and if he had, game would not have been close. I had no idea. But that Guy was so competitive he remembered every call. And it was still bugging him that they lost.
Barry talked about Lou and the Nets too but that is for another post

I was at that game and I believe Rick got 39 points, which may have been an Alumni Hall record at that time.

Didn’t Lou turn down recruiting Rick to St. John’s because he didn’t think he was good enough? At least that’s the story I used to hear.

They keep talking about our slow starts and why it happens. I have the answer. Pitino hasn’t started his best 5 guys one time this year.
The current starting team has one guy that can make an outside shot.
