CW Post

i'll concede we'll finish below .500 in the big east with a few big upsets to show for it. that being said, it's no secret we ran into the ole defense. however, you have to love how quick we got to the basket...and finished. we probably would have won this game by 30 two years ago...but the score would have been 75-45. this was much more fun to watch.

No way we beat this team by 30 two years ago. Last year, sure. Two years ago, no way. We would have used our size and squeezed out a win despite their far superior shooting ability.

Bonneau is a Division I talent. He was recruited by Norm and would've been with us if he would of had the grades.

Not entirely true. Norm took a look at him, but there was no offer. He's a very short two guard and not a point. I had him pegged for NEC level and pouring in about 20 ppg.

This was my writeup on him from Big East Boards in 2008 (I wasn't happy with Redmen at the time)

A little recap for the ladies on redmen.com: Bennou has a sick--and I do mean S-I-C-K--vertical that will leave you with your jaw dropped. He has a very nice outside shot (although there is no way he is hitting anywhere near what redmen reported % wise) that I predict will fall around the 35-37% mark in D-1 ball depending on how many tough shots he takes. Negatives: he is 5'9 (not 5'11), gambles defensively and does not play sound defense when he's not gambling. His grades and character make him a tremendous risk. He is a two guard in a PG body. He is best suited for the NEC in my opinion.

The point is that our recent teams couldn't have accumulated 24 assists against a team of fire hydrants. .

They had 21 against Duke last year. Duke is I'm pretty sure a Division 1 fire hydrant.

Fun, you think Jasiulionis would have looked as Achiuwa regardless of the opponent?

It's odd that you want to compare Achiuwa (gesundheit) to Jasilionustein, who I gave a perfect 5 neck bolts in my recent column comparing the careers of Bayne, Muto and TJ. It's odder that you want to compare this team to Beetlejuice's teams at all, because they all stank. The measure of success is not whether these players are better than those patsies and the question is not how well TJ might fare against CW Post. The question is how God's Gift - who admittedly was far from the Juco lummox that I expected - and who at this point would make an excellent back up center a la Mike Menniefield is going to fare against Uconn and Pitt. And if the Post game is any indication, he's going to foul out in 20 minutes.

I like that our guys can put the ball in the hoop. We're a long way from any real success though and we may not see it this year with a thin roster and lack of post players.

I'm not saying this is not a very talented group. They're more talented than any team we've had ever. I'm saying that they beat up CW Post and there's nothing you can take away from this game that gives any but the vaguest impression of what they'll do in a real basketball game against a real opponent. But that's me: I didn't get excited a couple of years ago when we beat Bryant by 100 either.

many posters are saying Achiuwa @ 6-9 is not big enough. I do not agee. With his talent and size and speed he could be one of the better centers in the league. Time wil tell if was right or thinking with the heart

YEA AND WE SHOULD BE PROUD THAT WE LET A DIV. II TEAM SCORE 80 PTS.

Giving up 80 points to a solid D-II program in an exhibition is still not as embarrassing as not knowing where the caps lock button on your keyboard is.

I have a hunch you've replied to realfan. He likes to trash this site, but always find his way back over here.

We scored 110 points against a good Div. II team.

Arizona(16th team in the nation) lost to a Div. II team tonight and only scored 68 points.

Lol, well apparently Arizona lost to D2 Seattle Pacific tonight. How about them apples...hahaha. They were losing by 13 at one point but finally lost by 1, 69-68.

For those that don't know Arizona this year: Frosh PG Josiah Turner was the #14 Recruit. SG Nick Johnson is #22. Center Angelo Chol is #59. PF Sideki Johnson is #89. They reture Elite 8 players Jesse Perry, Solomon Hill, Kyle Fogg, Brandin Lavender, Jordin Mayes, Alex Jacobson, and Kyryl Natyazhko, Chol is 6'9 225. Johonson is 6'8 240. Natyazhko is 6'11 275, and Jacobson is 7'0 260.....Hill, Fogg and Perry were starters, and Mayes, Lavender and Natyazhko all played double digit minutes last year....

The loss of Kevin Parrom hurts, but not THAT much.

Momo hurts a LOT more than they planned. Don't think that kids attitude would have PEMITTED a loss like this one.

I look forward to Jesse Wildcat going into hiding on Zag's Blog. That guy is the single biggest tool on the Internet.

Norm would have offered if he knew he was going to get an associates. He didn't offer, and rightfully so, because it was too risky. I'm not saying he is an impact player for St. John's- but he is without question an A-10 player.
