True we have not won in Hartford since 1988. However that’s deceiving because we’ve only played UConn six times there since. We played the bulk of our games at Gampel for obvious reasons. We actually have a winning record against UConn in Hartford (8-7) , of course that’s in major peril this weekend. SJU is 13-8 lifetime at the mall, beating Alabama in the Connecticut Classic in 1973, beating Rutgers in NCAA Tournament in 1983, and beating Navy and West Virginia in preseason NIT in 1985.

I was hoping you chime in. At "the mall" I love it. I'm not even sure if the mall portion of that building still remains.

That's correct. UCONN frequently played SJ at Gampel not in Hartford. I know because I went to those games and remember at least one win, maybe 2.

I agree that UCONN losing tonight will make it even tougher to beat them on Sunday. Not impossible but highly improbable. And my comment to you was before we knew that UCONN lost. One can be realistic about a team’s chances without being a purveyor of doom and gloom. I’m still glad you’re not coaching these young men. ;-)

Doom and gloom, nah I just call it as I see it and what I’ve seen has been poor from the get go. In terms of not wanting me coaching the team, that’s a pretty dumb statement considering you know nothing about me and another year of underachieving by the current staff. 😜
