Connecticut (MSG), Sat., Feb. 3, 12 NOON, FOX

IMHO, RJ is his own worst enemy and won't matter who he is paired with if he won't pass the ball or play defense.
We have 3 guys that want to play pick and roll with Soriano and only 1 ball.

Soriano only screens for 1 of those guys. I don’t know if that’s his call or from the bench.

If u r referring to his one on one play I think Pitino is actually encouraging that. When Luis had the ball in the front court, coach was waving his hand as if to say “take your man, go to the basket”. What was anyone else doing??
Agreed...at least he can create his own shot and can draw fouls and shoots well from the FT line...he'll get better, he's got a ton of potential but his shins are holding him back this year...he's not the problem as he actually played a decent game but makes stupid fouls after making a bad play....like Pitino said in the press conference, thats HS stuff....he's not a smart player and is the perfect #3-4 guy on a team

That’s because when you realize that the clock is running out on the season and this team has no chance of achieving anything it becomes just like any other season. You watch , you root , you hope, but in your heart you know it ain’t happening. So , you just get to the point of acceptance.
As the Cowardly Lion said, “Ain‘t It The Truth”! Same old, same old…..

I thought the Defense was great in the first half but the offense took another step backward.

Taylor….. no show again offensively
Ledlum …..cant hit an outside shot
Alleyne…… injury affected his game I guess
Dingle ……was better early on
Luis….. up and down
Soriano…… fading
Zuby….??????

Again I go back to the Utah game. The ball movement, passing, court spacing etc. was much better then what we have witnessed over tge last 6 games or so.

I’d love to rewatch the Utah game just to see what it was like. Dingle hit 4 threes in that game!! So DID LEDLUM. Didn’t realize something like that would never happen again

Disagree, Dunlap has developed into a more than adequate defender.
He constantly misses switches on defense ala the wide open 3 Spencer had in the first half, was nowhere near him and got pulled because of it....yes, he has been better then earlier in the year but still is not good...its to be expected...he has the length to be a good defender and I believe will in the future but cant count on him as a frosh

We just disagree, anyone can nitpick one sequence.

yep..agree to disagree but I like him and wish they would do something to get him more involved in the offense...he was open on a couple of occasions where Soriano was double teamed....as its been all year, its the little things that keep doing this team in

As crazy as this sounds since the new renovated garden while our 114 crew knew we never sat in our exact seats ( we just take the middle of the back 2 rows ) this is the first time we found out that 3 of us ( weathermannyc and Ralph ) don’t sit next to each other. Somehow there is an open seat in between each of us. That was weird although the older St. John’s fan between weatherman and me was very nice guy. Heck he’s 114 material

Memo to school. Put us side by side next year

One game. Rinse your mouth and spit out the bad taste. 10 games left, then BET. First goal, don’t play that Wednesday. Then the goal is an invite to the dance, plus a win or 2.
Don’t recall, where does a team have to finish not to have to play Wednesday?

OK, the sky isn't falling. Come off the ledge. I am disappointed too and wish things were different. BUT, this was the #1 team in the nation who happens to be defending national champs. Not saying all that happened is OK, but...

Marillac's observation of an open Dunlap several times in the corner only to be ignored frustrated me. Isn't that what the kid is in there for?

I will leave off with this...a text message from a guy I coach with who knows the game well and is a casual St. John's fan: "Watched the game and man did they stay with them, mostly. Really good team."

We need to step back a little and relax. Just the opinion of this 40+ year fan! On to the next game.

For me the game boiled down to me of us not taking advantage of 4 empty possessions by uconn to make a comeback when we were down around 8. We got nothing on our possessions or were turned over. And Spencer was real good today.

We're back to fighting for BE tournament seeding with the middle of the pack. We all hoped we'd be in top 3 of the conference. At 5-6 now, even with sweeps of gtown and depaul for 9 wins, we need 2 wins @ PC, @ Butler and at home against SH. Then split @ MQ and at home v Creighton. That gets us to 12 wins. Doable for sure.

mm52, at this point I'd be ecstatic with 12 wins which would mean finishing 7-2. Nothing I've seen from us so far makes me confident we can get on that kind of hot streak. I do think 6-3 is doable which would get us dancing.
