Connecticut (MSG), Sat., Feb. 3, 12 NOON, FOX

Very weird that a Pitino team peaked in early January and has regressed since. Just not enough consistency from anybody.

Minus a couple bad shooting games, Jenkins is the only one that has been solid all year.

Soriano looks like an All American against the 6'6 Centers from Stony Brook and Holy Cross but melts down against real bigs.

Ledlum plays hard and has some value but is a couple inches too short and not a good enough shooter.

None of Dingle, Alleyne, Luis, Taylor have stepped up and asserted themselves as a guy that deserves to play 30 mins a game.
Agreed...Soriano has the chops but mentally he's too emotional and gets in his own head...he also has hands of stone at times...Luis will be fun to watch next year but is complimentary this year...Dingle is killing us...to think this guy though he would go pro is absolutely laughable

I agree Dink, we all know that but I think we are all just sick and tired of waiting for next year.
exactly...been 20+ years of 'we'll get em next year'...with that 98-99 team out there, its sad that the last time we got an NCAA victory was with those guys who all have gray/white hair...thats depressing

I agree with the Soriano criticisms by most of the posters. Soriano played 33 minutes and had 6 points, 4 rebounds and 1 block. Clingan only played 16 minutes and had 5 points, 5 rebounds and 2 blocks. Soriano was 2-6 from the field and 2-5 from the free throw line. He was handed a gift today and he literally dropped the ball. He excels against 6'8" mid major centers but consistently gets outplayed by high major centers. He seems like a nice kid but his hands are weak, his reactions are slow and he rarely if ever passes the ball to an open man when he is either double teamed or out of position.

He had a better season last year under CMA.
When he consistently fumbles entry passes in post it inhibits him from making quick moves to hoop & well as drawing fouls in addition to kicking ball (Marillac point) to open shooters when doubled. His fumbles and hesitancy break the rhythm of the play on a suspect offensive team to begin with.

My take on Dingle is that he should have stayed at Penn, or maybe gone to an A-10 school. That might have been an appropriate competition level for him.

Leaving another
Though how many losses at MSG will it take for NYC casuals who jumped back aboard for Pitino to quit on us again
Leaving the Garden after a second half collapse in big game is dejecting - beyond a buzzkill - for the third time this year. It hurts the die hards far more than the casuals, however. My guest at todays game remarked that the atmosphere was better than the Knicks games he regularly attends and was very optimistic about SJUs future.

Casual interest is rising. It’s just us maniacs who justifiably feel like sht. We’re also used to it and will show out next time as we always do

I get how you are feeling zaun. But don’t give up.

I’m a St. John’s, jets; Knicks, Mets fan. Zero championships in my entire life. Of course it’s easy to look around at like Boston/Connecticut fans and see the treasure trove of wins they’ve had the last 20 years.

But that doesn’t mean give up. Remember, even the patriots were pretty ass for a long time. All it takes sometimes is one regime to turn the corner. Don’t give up brother
They’re scumbags and will be hell! You’re a good person keep your head up 😂🤣

I think he should have gone somewhere that had an established pass-first PG and needed a scorer.

Probably a more deliberate system like Wisconsin would have helped.

Soriano is soft, start Zuby.

Interesting and concerning quotes there. Much different from his “we’re coming” statements as recently as last week.

Also, the “everybody leaves” part foreshadowing to 3 months from now?

I don’t get the culture comment. Only Joel and Drissa were leftovers and their attitudes were great. What culture is he talking about???? It can’t be the fan culture as many are showing up. He brought in most of these kids of there’s an issue with players??. I find this comment disturbing and must attribute it to a difficult loss.

He was trying to get his teammates involved in the second half and as usual none of them stepped up. If Jenkins shoots too much you bash him , if only takes 6 shots in a half you bash him. He’s the only player on this team with any guts! He should have taken 15 shots in the second half. We would have been better off.
Agreed...he's the only guy on this team that can lead...Id rather him shoot 20 times a game but UCONN doubled/tripled him in the 2nd half and guys like Dingle are just not BE level talent...Jenkins is the only guy on this team with the BE mentality...Soriano has skills but it's his mental shortcomings/lapses are what do him in constantly

Awful shooting throughout the season.
We must be close to the bottom in the Big East in three point shooting %.
Any rational reason Pitino didn’t keep a couple of the shooters from last years team?
Jones in Memphis is at 46%
and Storrs for Wisconsin is at 44%

Jones just won the game for Memphis over Wichita State!
we're dead last!!

Sounds like he is talking about the culture brought about by NIL and free transfer system but maybe I'm mistaken.

The numbers don't lie

1. We got killed on the boards (38 to 23)
2. We shot 66.7% from the foul line (vs 90.9% for UConn)
3. We shot 28.6% on 3 pointers (vs 46.7% for UConn)

Soriano didn't show up again today. He had a horrible game
Ludlum tries hard but he is undersized as a PF
Luis has a lot of athletic ability but often forgets that he has four teammates on the floor with him
Dingle has been a major disappointment all season
Dunlap just isn't ready for prime time yet

I'll keep watching from my recliner in South Florida and will yell at the TV from time to time
But I will always root for the Johnnies, no matter what happens

There are a few groups of players on this team that don’t get along. Most of you can figure out who falls where.
