Columbia Game

they are a slow garbage ivy team we all know that

A team that can shoot the 3 the way they do is not a garbage team and their ability to shoot the 3 will keep them in games.

sloppy win you take it and move on but they did not play well and they will see a lot of packed in 2 3 zones

Team was sleepwalking today. But I'll take the win to close out the OOC schedule 9-3. On to Xavier Tuesday afternoon.

It seemed like the team was sleep walking through this game a little. I will take the win. If we hit our free throws we win this game by double digits. Also, another poster made the point of how much better we played when Rysheed was in the game. Him being in foul trouble hurt because he's the one guy we have who can penetrate that zone. I really want to see us rebound the way we did the last ten minutes of this game come conference play. Onward and upward!!

Sanchez got 9 boards and a couple of put backs. We really need that part of his game. We ended up winning the rebound battle. When the game was on the line we held the Lions to no field goals for 6.5 minutes. We did not play a good 40, again, but with the game that would of been a terrible loss, got the win. I really don't know if we good enough to win at Xavier, but expect our best.

We are good enough, but it won't be easy. They are pretty balanced. Then again, Xavier is 180-25 at home. Won't be easy to make it 26.

we are good enough to beat any team and inconsistent enough to lose to any team. We were up by 14 today then went into a fog on offense and defense. They were not able to go back door for most of the game, then once we got up a bit they go back door 2-3 times almost in a row! Very inconsistent, but the potential for something special is here.

The inconsistent effort is puzzling and concerning. Either the coaching is not up to snuff, or the kids are overrated as a group, or they are not meshing.

I have to say that I don't know why, unlike other teams, Coach chose to play certain players (i.e., Hooper or Balamou or GG etc.) as much as he did given the game was never really put away.

Other teams blow out the teams they should blow out. Other than Fordham, I can't say we've done that.

The inconsistent effort is what bothers me most.

I'm gonna have to disagree with you about teams blowing out teams they should blow out. This same Columbia team lost to Michigan State by only 9 (we won by 6). There's games every day where powerhouse schools have a close game to a lesser opponent.

Being an optimistic person, I like the way the team handled the last few minutes of the game when we lost the lead. We hit a few big shots and played good defense. As I mentioned in an earlier post, I think Rysheed Jordan was the reason we won today. I'm not sure of his +/- for the game, but I'm pretty sure it's much higher than everybody on our team.
