Coaching Carousel

Jeff Ermann who covers Maryland for 247 has a theory on what Kevin did today. Evidently him and Damon Evans are not tight.

He knew Evans was flirting with SMU and he is using the Villanova gig to push him out.

And now he can maneuver for an AD that will provide him with the resources he thinks he needs.

Probably not entirely but to an east coast guy, who could be promised a high major job in a few years as long as he doesn’t lose (at a place no one loses at) it might be.

Also this:
Chance New Mexico is eventually in Big East: 0 percent

Chance VCU is eventually in Big East: Not 0 percent

Same message. Different year. How many corners has Fordham been ready to turn?

The move up has been a failed experiment. 30 years of data support that.

Generations of students know their basketball program only as one thing: a doormat

Give them a reason to go to games, to root for the team, to get excited. Bring Fordham back where it belongs.
I went to some Fordham games during Urgo's first year. Student section was packed and loud. Alums were well represented resented. At the Atlantic 10 Tournament, Fordham was well represented by alumni students.

All Fordham needs is the right coach to energize the fan base. Some on here were saying that St John's needed to drop down to the A10 due to our failure to win on a consistent basis and poor fan support.

Coach Pitino put a stop to that noise.

Difference is Fordham has never proven it could compete at the A10 level. At least, St. John's was a BE and at times a national power before the tailspin in the post-Louie years.

And as bad as St. John's has been, it has never reached the depths that Fordham has consistently reached over the past 30 years.

One good season is a statistical outlier among 28-29 terrible seasons.
