I don't expect anyone to answer to me directly. I'm not in administration. I'm just a fan. That being said, fans are customers who buy merch and tickets which drive the revenue. So many people act like they are above answering to fans, but they aren't. Fans are consumers. The product is the team. If it sucks constantly, it's a bad product and less and less will show up or watch. They know this. Let's hope Cragg realizes this and doesn't care about emotion and nostalgia. So one disgruntled fan means nothing to them...but a whole bunch of disgruntled fans will directly affect their bottom line. The MSG crowds may be embarrassing next year if we don't get things together and fast.

So you truly think that the administration should listen to the fans about the firing/hiring of coaches, just because they support the program?

If the fans want a say in firing the coach just stop going to the games, and donating. I for sure won't be renewing my season tickets or donating through the R&W club this year if Mullin is back. I might as well take that money and light it on fire. Believe me if enough people do this it will get the attention of the higher ups.

Agree PharmD...I think admins will get a rude awakening if they think fans show up because of Mullin alone. I think Mullin helps get the butts in seats but ONLY when we have a promising season coming up. If it's hopeless from the beginning, I expect a big decrease in attendance. It's funny how we are told we can't tell Mullin what to do with his money (e.g. accept less for a buyout) but then fans are criticized when they refuse to spend money on a bad product.

What I still don't understand is why no administrators pulled Mullin aside and said "Hey Coach...with all due respect we need you here more and we need you recruiting a lot more. It means a lot to the recruits and we are at a huge disadvantage if you aren't visible and meeting with them". I realize he never coached before which is why I gave him a pass the first year or two. But either no one had the balls to tell him "you need to do more recruiting" or they did tell him and he didn't take it seriously. You never want to go there, but it should've been worked out in the contract how often he must recruit being a brand new coach, because if he doesn't fulfill it you can terminate with cause and get your money back. Is it bad optics to fire a legend? Of course it is. But he's really putting us in a tough spot whereas he could make things easier on the program and just step down after splitting the remaining $4 million (2 for him and school keeps 2).

Exactly, you'll feel much better going on Charity Navigator and finding a well-run charity to support.

The administration should listen to people who know something about hiring coaches. The fans here know more than they do and SJU administration’s Track record is abysmal. I’m hoping that’s why Cragg is in place. He can bounce it off coach K if he likes which is a lot better than anybody at SJU.

Or spending it on hookers and blow, it is an entertainment option after all, especially for us non alums. ;)

PS for those wondering that's a joke. Neither are on my list of entertainment options.

I don’t pass judgement on others. j/k

IMO not buying tickets or holding back a donation is going too far. Cragg didn't hire Mullin so we don't know what Mullin told the prior AD about recruiting and taking trips out west.
Cragg , since the school doesn't have the money to buy out Mullin has to try to come up with a solution. Hiring two new assts to recruit would be a great first step. What happens with the Cragg/ Mullin relationship after that is anybody's guess. If Mullin fights the replacing of his two buddies then the school has to terminate and go to court or SJ will be set back five years in its program.

Since the news broke that Cragg refused to extend Mullin, there hasn't been a single opinion piece in favor of extending him. Hopefully Mullin noticed this and adjusts his thought process.

Not sure if Mullin or Cragg leaked the negotiations to the media, but regardless the leak benefits Cragg.

Be disgruntled all you want. I've yet to see anyone allude to this on here, but there's another elephant in the room, and that is Lou. If you think Cragg is going to challenge Carnesecca and co. barely a year into his stint here, guess again. That's a more powerful force than a gaggle of disgruntled fans whining on message boards and on Twitter, like yourself. (Daily).

If I were a major donor, I'd be asking to talk to Cragg and tell him point blank if you don't at least replace both Mitch and fill Matt's old spot, I'm not donating another penny. Why would they be ok with this? Is any other program seriously this stupid? I really hope this is not true about Mullin being a monarch in the program. I don't care who you are...if you stink the place up and won't even have the decency to put in max effort making $2 mil a year then you need to step down. Sometimes people make their own luck or lack of luck with dumb decision after dumb decision. Let's hope logic prevails and we get not 1 but 2 legit AC's. We literally have zero chance if Mitch and GSJ are still here with 1 new AC.[/quote]

If Mullin is fired, owed $4 million, on top of $2 million paid to Lavin, on top of $3 million due slice for remaining 5 years. You know anyone willing to eat that kind of money to bring in yet another risky coach at $1 million per, or $3.5-5 million per for a proven entity? It's why when you look at the programs that can toss around that kind of money they are either public state schools or private universities with large endowments.

It's completely insane for posters to believe that Looie is influencing decisons on the next coach. Just another match to an already torched board where the demons have taken over and are sardonically smiling in glee at the shit being hurled.

Nobody said anything about the next coach.

Brian (Team Mullin) said to consider the factor of Lou who means a lot to Chris and vice versa

Storm Tracker (Presuming Team No Mullin) said can he be left out of decisions not specifically anything about the next coach.

Point being Lou being around should not come into play about how would he react if Mullin is forced away.

He had 6 year deal like Mullin. There was no agreement. He's being paid what he's owed.

We all love Looie but :
1. Promoted Mahoney
2. Kept Calipari out
3. Influential with Mullin coming in
Three strikes and you are out.
