Coach Anderson
When St. John's Law School began, the super elite law schools still didn't admit, or had quotas on, minorities including minorities and Jewish applicants. Jewish and other minorities and recent immigrant group students made up a significant portion of the SJUL student body and helped contribute to a well-earned reputation for academic excellence because these minority students were shut out of the more elite schools, primarily at that time Columbia and NYU.
Harvard also discriminated. That discrimination led to the excellence of MIT

Phenomenal post, Otis. Thanks.
I'm very proud of St. John's history of supporting immigrants, minority students and athletes,. The Solly Walker era resonates and should be celebrated.
It's something to be proud of--not to brag about, because it was the right thing to do, butt be very proud of.

I’m still not thrilled with losing LJ with no contingency. We enter this season short one scholarship and our best player to boot. It’s not a good look and certainly not encouraging to fans. I still think the staff should have given LJ a timeline. They gave the benefit of the doubt and LJ screwed SJU. I also don’t think there are enough difference-makers that have been added in this recruiting class. It’s a good class but we need to step it up more. Can’t be losing guys like LJ with no impact replacements. Gotta get to a point where we are landing a bit higher level overall so these defections don’t hurt as much as they do.

I agree that we got played by LJ but I think there will be more player movement during the summer. I think there could well be an opportunity to pick up a quality player before next season

Losing LJ will have 0 effect on this team. Just like losing heron last year has 0 effect on the team.

Actually, Ill go a step further. With guys like cole, willimas, earlington, Champy etc getting more playing time without LJ, we will actually be better w/o him.

We still aren’t very talented overall. We work hard and have a lot of horses but our talent level overall lags and losing LJ compounds that. This 21’ recruiting class we need to land some legit freshman talent to add to Posh. I’m hoping there’s still a chance to pick somebody up this summer, even if it’s a sit out at worst case scenario. A high ranked sit out is better than having an empty ship for this season imo.

CMA is a pro. . . SJ and NY will be his best stop. . . He could have toiled at Arkansas for 20 years and it would have been difficult to grab even a small speck of the spotlight competing against the football mafia and some of the highest profile and questionable programs in the country, If he wins here, his rep will soar and he will get his share of players.

On related note, I spoke to someone in the ticket office today. . .no surprises. . .he is well liked and respected. . .and, unless out on recruiting trip, CMA and the whole staff are in the office every day. He knows what it takes and is undeterred.

And, his wife is loved as well.

How do you know CMA didn’t give him a timeline, or that LJ did not make statements upon which they reasonably relied only to be double crossed ?

Per John Fanta

Just wrapped an in-depth summer 1-on-1 with @Iron_MikeMA. Plenty of great insight to live by during these times, plus he gave an early preview of what people can expect from @StJohnsBBall in 2020-21. Interview will drop early next week. #SJUBB

Excerpt from John Fanta interview with CMA;

In an interview with Mike Anderson, the St. John's head coach opened up: "There are some jobs that I probably should have had in an earlier time in my career, but they didn't happen. Why? Probably because of the color of my skin."

Happy anniversary to Coach and Mrs. Anderson
They are celebrating their 35th wedding anniversary today
Congratulations and best wishes for many more happy and healthy ones
