Cluess

Valid concern, but that could be said about most of the potential candidates left. Brey and Pitino are the only ones I see being able to recruit on a high level immediately. I'm still rooting for Odom.

Thanks for this, man.
Can Moser recruit 'at the highest level'? I actually think he's a good 'x&o coach' but I think Cluess would have much better success with the NY Metro HS/AAU scene than Moser who would have to tap the recruiting scene nationally at least initially and how has he done with that?
He had a phenomenal run last year but produced disappointing results this year with 3 key guys back.
I'd definitely opt for Cluess over Moser, hands down.
Hoping this is more due diligence, checking out 'options'.
Tim has had phenomenal success at a 'low' mid-major while Moser has been 'okay' on a composite report card basis at Loyola.
To repeat myself: "Let's do it already!"
Lol.

If I'm Cluess I have to be feeling that I am the safe, desperate choice for the prom while Cragg looks for someone prettier.

Which would be typical SJU if then we went back to him and he said- "You know what, I'm good in New Ro."

It could be that MC is just checking out 'similar' level options, so he's not accused of 'settling' for his 'fallback' choice, following the BH chase.
We shall see, but Cluess's record is far superior to Moser's.

But Porter Moser??????????????
Got to the F4.

Tim Cluess?????????????
0-6 in the NCAA tourny, so he's still winless.

I'd say Moser accomplished more then Cluess.
Want to argue that Tim is a local guy? That doesn't make Tim a sure bet.

What win championship, offense or defense?
Look back to the championship game.

Porter’s attention to defense definitely is a big positive for me. I’m tired of playing zero defense for decades.

Offense more often than not gets you to FF
Thie Moser offer (if true) has to be embarrassing to Cluess. At what point does he say FU St. John’s?
Not really. He does have a $2.5m buyout. That is a major roadblock that has nothing to do with whether or not he's their favorite choice.

Agreed. Assuming Moser has a smaller buyout, my guess is they ran the numbers of how much the total package would be (and hopefully factoring time value of money since with Cluess that's an immediate 2.5 on top of Chris' salary on top of Cluess' first year), and decided if they could shoot higher to see who else they could get at a bit higher per year given the negative buyout.

For all we know about Cluess in the NY area, Porter Moser is unquestionably a hotter, sexier pick for coach nationally than Tim Cluess. Doesn't mean he's the right pick, but Moser hire will get national pub now and during season. Cluess will not.

Boomer and Gio this morning saying they're hearing there’s a power struggle going on within SJU Admin and Cragg is not being allowed to make his own choice. I know they’re not the most informed when it comes to college hoops, especially local, but even if there’s just a semblance of truth to this, does not bode well for us.
