Cincy Game

What yesterday proved is that if you rebound aggressively, install a no-fly zone under the basket and do reasonably well covering 3 point attempts, you can play an ugly game and come out on top against a first-rate opponent.

Anyone taking in the game today? I am pregraming down at montgomery inn on the river.

You travel even more than me. Charleston, SF and now Cincy?

The travel schedule luckily worked out. Always enjoyed the Cincy area.. the fans are another case. Left a happy camper... until I see the posts on the site. Whether it be some complaints about a win... HELLO LADIES, WE BEAT A TOP 15 team on the ROAD!!!... or who has the facts on Orlando Sanchez eligiblity. I was actually excited to read the site this morning after this win. Boy was I mistaken. Except for a few, bunch of whining b*tches.

Didn't get to see the game, yet. It's on my DVR. The info I've gotten tells me this team has turned a corner. They changed their thinking and decided that rebounding might help win games. If they keep this up we have an excellent chance at the dance! Congratulations, guys! Keep up the good work!

Very similar thoughts. I kept thinking of the scene in the movie "The Miracle Worker" where the young Helen Keller shows understanding of concepts and her teacher is overcome with joy saying "She knows, she knows." What I got from watching us at Cincy is "They know, they know", and now all that talent and athleticism will be honed into one very dangerous team. Won't be a straight line and I still want Sanchez but now it begins for real.

I really enjoyed the fact that we shut down Kilpatrick. I'm still a bit miffed over him choosing Cinci over us. I really thought he would have been the difference in this game. I guess, in a different way than expected, he was the difference.

We got Dwight Hardy which pushed Kilpatrick away.

btw, crazy ending to the women's game today.
i posted on it in the wrong spot so it was moved to the other forum: Lady Hoops..anyway we won..not unlike the cincy game in a way..big lead...then hold your breath...and unusual ref call

It was nice to finally see a W go up on our side of the ledger. But one win, even against a team ranked 14th, does not a season make. They have a lot more to prove before the losses to all those mid majors and the Villanova loss will be in the rear view mirror as far as I am concerned. I want to see more rough playing, rebounding and victories. I dont want moral victories, those are for losers

I think most posters know this team still has plenty to prove the remainder of the season. No one has proclaimed yesterday's win will catapult this team on a gangbusters-like run the rest of the way. So, I don't understand the "one win doesn't make a season" gibberish.

A few (including, myself) have stated this win could be what the team needs to jumpstart their season. All we can do is hope. What poster said anything about moral victories?

Be happy about the win, and the prospects a win like yesterday could possibly do to the Johnnies' psyche.

Master of the obvious everyone!

I'm a little late to the party but definitely saw some improvement yesterday. Most notably we played with heart. We played tough, and we played physical. If we can do that consistently, things will fall into place for this team.

Really loved the contribution from Felix yesterday. He's a very good defender.

Well perhaps you should find another team to root for the rest of the season. Whether you like it or accept it we are very young and will be going through growing pains.

Would like to see him get more burn. If only he was a little bit taller.

The point is we have heard too much of growing pains, youth, etc. We sound like the old Brooklyn Dodger fans who would say wait till next year. We have had over 10 years of growing pains and I dont think the school or administration can say the fans have not been patient. But my patience has worn thin and I dont want to hear about moral victories. I want to hear about wins and leaving your blood, sweat and tears on the court. No more losing. As the Yankees said in 1996 (Mariano Duncan specifically) - we play to day we win today. That is it in a nutshell

"No more losing"; sounds like a tall order to me - I just don't think we are going undefeated from here on. The team is what it is; if you expected we would be in the running for undefeated seasons essentially 2 years into the Lavin era you were kidding yourself, patience or no patience.

If anyone would have told me that we would stop Kilpatrick, Jackson and Parker on Saturday I would have thought you were on something. Better defense and rebounding.
