Chris Obekpa

Wonder if Obekpa becomes more prominent possibility with Katin off the board. We'll see.

Love this kids shot blocking ability-would be great alongside Pelle or interchangeable for defensive purposes.

How does he compare to Gathers?

From what I can tell.... Other than both players being pretty athletic there are really no comparisons. Gathers is a brute, muscular kid who uses his strength and size on both ends of the floor. Basically, Gathers can bring it on both ends.

It seems like Obekpa, at this moment, is a heckuva shotblocker and a pretty good rebounder at this moment. Those seem to be his positives, according to most recruiting guru's. His offensive game seems to be a definite work in progress. He's someone I'm sure our staff will keep their eyes on, though.

Tweet from Zags:

"Our Savior assistant Eric Jaklitsch confirmed Chris Obekpa will take unofficials this week to St. John's and Ga. Tech. Providence later"

Bigger, Better, Stronger, Faster...................SJU!!

A 6'9" sweeper in soccer. I like this kid. Never saw him play, but I predict he'll be the next Dream.

He hosted UCLA, Providence and Cincy on Sunday for home visits.

Pretty good company to be hosting.
Too bad we don't have another ship to give.

I think we will have one or two!

Understood, when I wrote the post I was assuming everyone was eligible for this season.

"@friarblog: Chris Obekpa is on PC campus this weekend for an unofficial visit per a source #pcbb #stjbb
