Chemistry a Problem / N.Y. Post

Heslip of Baylor had a big game last night leading the Bears over S. Carolina. Heslip destroyed our D last year. This kind of 3 point shooter, more than just one dimensional, is the kind of player Lavin should be looking to recruit, in addition to all the Athletes who aren't exceptional shooters. Less the protesters overwhelm, DLO is a scorer not, a drop dead shooter and, he's good at that but, some nights he's going to shoot 3 for 13 and no 3's. That's his history.

Harrison of Saint John's had 26 last year leading SJ over South Carolina, who were about the worst team we played all season. Haslip of Baylor averages 8 points a game -- and to prove that he's not just one dimensional -- one assist and one rebound as well. Clearly the missing piece of the puzzle and just the sort of player we should be recruiting: a slow footed 6'2" guard who averages 2 made threes a game. That throbbing you don't feel is your finger not on the pulse of the problem.

Yes, it's the kids like Heslip, the kid on San Francisco, Dukan, Gessler on Wisconsin, Ryan A on Villanova, all slow footed guards who blow by our athletes, shoot their pants off and emerge winning the games...Versus the High Jumpers and acrobats that can't throw the ball in the ocean or who wave goodbye to their man as they go bye for a lay up.
Yeah, Lavin wouldn't recruit these kids ..

They probably wouldn't play for him anyway.

Are you on some mission to be as big of a nuisance, as you can be? It seems that way.

To show your ignorance.... Lavin did reach out to Arcidiacono. But he settled on the local school, and the same school where his parents attended.

Can U read? I said kids like Arcidiacono, HESLIP IN THE FIRST SENTENCE. Re-Read it slower next time before you shoot your mouth.. Comprehension is important in reading.

I can read and comprehend well. You mentioned "kids like Arcidiacono," and I said, Lavin did target him. So, now you said, you mentioned kids like him, and I give an actual scenario where Lavin did target a kid like Arcidiacono.

So, what are you talking about moron?

PERSONAL INSULTS ARE ALL YOU ARE CAPABLE OF AND NEARLY EVERYONE HAS CALLED YOU ON IT AT ONE TIME OR ANOTHER. You jumping on a FUN post in support reflects your level of classlessness.

in 4 years Lavin has not successfully recruited, enrolled or retained a player the likes of Heslip, Dukan or, Arcidicano.. I'm not saying those players specifically but, their style of player.. Most every team we play has a dead spot on shooter that PLAYS and gets meaning ful minutes.. WE DO NOT..Can't lavin find them? Hooper may be that type player, maybe not. We'll see. Marco is likely not.

You are a homer of unlimited bounds and can't accept any disagreement with your point of view. You probably still post on Fun's network of 1. You anf HIM, THAT'S A PAIRING!

While nobody loves a good argument and especially reading one like me may I suggest a 1 hour beer break for you guys. It's just not worth it this early in the season. At least wait till the Fordham game to kill each other.

I haven't met Dinkin's but I know enough about him talking with him by email to know he is a real good guy and I had disagreements with Westchesterjoe back in the BEB days but I met him at the BEB party at the bar that PMG911 had set up back in the Norm hell days and he is a real nice guy also when you meet him.

You'd both like each other if you saw each other at a bar. I guarantee it

LOL

I wasn't jumping on Fun's post at all. I was just placing my thoughts on the discussion. It didn't have anything to do with Fun. Trust me!

First of all, you said, Lavin wouldn't go after those types, and it's a fact that he did. Secondly, he has landed guys like Hooper and Bourgault, so that also blasts your argument out of the water. You can't put stipulations on Hooper's and Bourgault's game to support your argument. The fact was he targeted Arcidiacono, and targeted and landed Hooper and Bourgault.

I am a homer. We all should be homers in some way, shape, or form. I can accept views opposite of mine, and not bash the poster. Posters like you cry and whine (remember, you whined after our 5-game winning streak a season ago) at every, turn and make baseless, idiotic arguments that only serves an agenda and/or to incite the board. You're the same poster who dug up a post from a few days old, and used it to antagonize the head moderator after our team (not sure you root for 'em or not) lost last Friday. Talk about class, huh?

Lastly, only two posters have cried about being attacked by me. One of 'em has been banned a thousand times, and the other comes and goes. Guess what? Each poster is despised by most. Y'all have the same thing in common.... Playing the victim role.

I only come out guns blazin' when foolishness is constantly tossed about from the same posters. IMO, that is what you bring. So, stop playing the victim, and bring some reasonable commentary to the board other than being a douche, and you won't have to worry about being "attacked."

In bold: Good job. That is actually part of my point, maher.

One of the qualities that make you a very likeable poster (and person), is that you never engage in the insult hurling tirades that are pervasive around here, especially after losses. These public battles are tedious for all readers, and saying this isn't to call out any parties in this case, as I've had my share of them.

Thanks for trying to break this one up. Blessed are the peacemakers.

Thanks for the link. I forgot all about BEB since your return here. Good stuff as usual!
However, it is a shame to waste a site and your talents on BEB. Could you possibly convert it to a Big East porn site and rename it Big East Broads? Mostly pictures of broads with big booties in parochial school uniforms would be nice.

Bingo! If Marco or Max played against us, they'd be confused with chris mullin. There's something wrong with this picture.

In the last week multiple posters have been calling for less athletes and for Lavin to recruit players with a higher bball IQ.
Time to call a spade a spade....
When you criticize the team for having too many "athletes" and not enough "basketball players", and then offer four white kids as examples of who you would want on the team, it wreaks of racism. Whether that's your intent or not, your argument is going to be drowned out by the backdrop that it creates in everyone's mind.

And, Desco, when you are discussing racism, you shouldn't use the expression " Let's just call a spade a spade." I'm sure it wasn't intended but that was a bad choice of words. ;)

Well it is equally racist when we get posts from people that Hooper is too slow on D when the sample size is two trips up and down the court. It works both ways and both are equally wrong.

No, it's not at all similar. Save your false equivalency for someone else.
Saying Hooper is slow is a specific, observable, critique of one player. And it's from that assessment, that it naturally follows that we need someone without that one deficiency.
It is an entirely different dynamic when you claim that a group of players are "acrobats" and lazy on defense, and then suggest their replacements be more like a group of four all-white players.
Acrobats and lazy. And we need more guys like Heslip, Gasser, Archidiacano, and Dukan.

People can claim their intent is pure all they want, the above speaks for itself. Acrobats and lazy on defense. And I won't even delve into the low IQ argument, because I don't want to attribute that to WestchesterJoe when it may have been someone else who actually said it.

Please, this isn't even debate-able. Let's acknowledge a mistake and move on.

I think we should recruit all Asians. Clearly there is a reason Johnny Lin went to Harvard, and clearly Asians are much smarter overall than us dumb white guys. They are also faster, and better coordinated. I hate being part of the inferior race.
