Chasing Nova

they said on the game that 95% of Big East teams with 10 wins makes the tourney. Not sure if that included BET wins

It doesnt, someone clarified that earlier, so we would have to win 2 out of 3. It starts with the Friars. Then we have two games to get an upset.

Nova next two games:

@ PITT
VS GTOWN

VERY big chance Nova is looking at 9-9 in conference play and 18-13 on season. If we beat the Friars we are in very good shape

I still think 'Nova is getting in, regardless what we do. We're not fighting 'Nova for a spot. West Virginia and UConn recently got in with similar records.

Your probably right MJ but now there is a chance NOVA could lose out and make it harder for them to get in, which makes it easier for us to get in.

You must be talking about getting into the NIT as at this point we would prob have to win the remainder of our three games to get in the big tourney. PC will be tough on the road as will ND and Marquette just beat the Cuse, so where are the wins comming from?

Fuquan can play and shoot! Seton Hall get beat us and another mid to lower echelon team in our conference in any given night. Our team is not competitive against the better teams while Villanova has won and played more competitively against the better competition. They may not make NCAA but they have a reasonable chance depending on the competition. We are NIT material.

Beat Providence and hopefully win at home against Marquette. Then take 2 in the BET. It's certainly a long road but after seeing this Seton Hall ending anything is possible I guess

Did you hear the stat? 95% of BE teams with 10 conference wins get in to big dance. We just need two out of three, plus a Bet win to be safe.

I don't understand how people continue to think that we have to win all 3 games left or win the Big East Tourney to get in. People simply do not understand the process. The stat has been given numerous times, 10-8 in the conference gets you in 95% of the time, history does not lie. All three games will be very tough but they can win at least 2 out of 3 if they play their best and their opponents don't. If they get to 10 wins the percentages say they are in although it is certainly no lock. If they get to 10 wins and win 1 in the Big East the percentages are extremely high that they will get in.

How many of those 95 percent had 11 losses though?

Johnnie's are no longer last four out.

This first four in last four out always confused me so excuse that, but that means we are worse off right? Or did you mean Nova's loss helped us?

That could of just been the beginning of the end for Nova, and huge for us.

Wow. Maybe I'll drive up to providence after all

I was just up at Providence last friday. Although it might not save you time, taking the New London ferry from Orient can avoid unpredictable traffic on 95 and be overall less driving in miles. They're making improvements to campus as well. Is this game on campus, or at Dunkin Donuts Arena downtown?

They play every game at the Dunkin Donuts Center much like Seton Hall and the Rock.

I would have to do some research but my assumption is a decent percentage of them. The problem here is that they will actually have 13 at the end of the year assuming they win 2 out of three and one in the Big East. They also have 2 bad losses against San Fran and NCAsheville. That is why although history would be on our side it is no lock. I would not bet against history though. I think everyone on this board would be happy if they won 2 out of 3 and 1 in the Big East Tourney with at least hope on Selection Sunday. If they win 2 out of 3 and 2 in the Big East I don't think there is any chance the committee keeps them out.

The big problem I have in even considering the possibility of winning two out of the last three is that over the past 7 games, with the exception of UCONN win, we have not played well at all. Without a healthy Branch, the possibility of winning two of three vs. ND, Marquette, and Providence would take a huge reversal. While you have to play one at a time, overall it's just not likely at this point, just based on how they are playing.

It's a nice ferry ride, the only thing that sucks is it's so far out east. People think I'm far out to begin with at about exit 60 off the LIE, but Orient is another hour east from me, and can easily be 1 hour 30 minutes if you get stuck behind someone slow because it turns into single lane driving there. Providence is a scary team...I remember watching Cotton play and I thought "I don't want our guys playing them". Clearly beatable, but when their offense clicks, they surprise a LOT of people.

The big positive about taking the Ferry is that the drive is predictable. The further out on LI you live, the more sense it makes. 95 can be murder on the weekends, and if you get stuck in a big traffic jam, at most points you don't have a lot of recourse except to sit in traffic. It's just pretty expensive to take the ferry, so if cost is an issue, then you avoid it by all means. Are you making the trip? Don't you have a sister at Providence?

PJ Ferry will save you that single lane hassle but obviously the drive from Bridgeport to Providence is longer, at least it's all freeway. The North Fork drive is a lot more scenic though. But really, you've made it to two games all year. I'm sure you're not going to Providence or paying the $108 for the round trip ferry.

I went to 2 exhibitions, midnight madness, G'Town (at MSG) and stayed after to see our girls beat Seton Hall, DePaul (at CA).

So technically 6 functions.

I was up visting HC, BC, BU and PRovidence. Providence was last, on Friday afternoon. The prospect of hitting rush hour Friday afternoon traffic on 95 was enough to have me hop the ferry at New London. Overall, it cut about 50 miles of driving off, and after driving about 50 easy miles to New London, added another easy 85 miles from Orient Friday evening. All in all, a big plus with no stress driving.
