Charleston Classic

It's rather ironic, as I was thinking who would represent the Big East next season in Charleston, while watching the VCU/Seton Hall game.

God-willing, I will be there (I live nearly a couple of hours from Charleston). Hopefully, some of you make reservations to be there, as well.

A nice, historic city. They also have some pretty, decent restaurants.

And they fry EVERYTHING.

I am already looking into scheduling a road trip even if though it's a year away. I wouldn't bank on too many StJ fans from NYC attending after last night horrible showing at The Garden

Definitely going to do everything to make this trip. How's the weather down there right now Dink? How much golf can I get in?

Untrue. Charleston is a real foodie and cultural destination and the historic part of town is beautiful. Great place to visit and y'all left out the most important part. Fantastic golf!!!

It's South Carolina, Moose. One day, it could be 53 and sunny. The next day, it could be 34 and snow.

Actually, it's about 55 and sunny in Charleston, per a weather report. I would say, that is about a few degrees lower than normal for this time of the year. You could get in some golf in the entire state of South Carolina during this time of year. We rarely see any wintry precip during this time of the year, but I've seen it get cold during this time of the year.

Overall, I think you'll be fine.

It would be great if the Alumni Relations department would take this opportunity to set up a bus to take alumni and or students down there. like many many schools do when they are playing at MSG.

A bus to SC? Thats a bit of a trek, no? Not like Yukon piling in for 2 hr ride.

You can fly to Kentucky with the team through the Red?White for $2,500. That's a pretty expesive 1 1/2 day stay in Lexington.

I live in the Hilton Head area, 2 hours to Charleston. I played golf today but, it wasn't the best day of the week. Last Monday was, 79 degrees...High 60's tomorrow, low 70's thru Wednesday.

Charleston is a charming, classy town.. among the best places to visit in the USA...It's a must trip to make for the serious SJU HOOPS FAN....

LIVED IN SAVANNAH SINCE 1969 & HAVE BEEN TO CHARLESTON MANY TIMES SINCE JUST RELATIVELY SHORT DRIVE AWAY. WONDERFUL CITY FILLED WITH MUCH HISTORY, GREAT ARCHITECTURE & VERY HOSPITABLE PEOPLE.
MANY GREAT RESTAURANTS & FAMOUS CHEFS ALWAYS TRYING NEW & EXCITING RECIPES. CHECK OUT  LAST FEW ISSUES OFGARDEN & GUN MAGAZINE (LAST ISSUE WAS DEVOTED TO MANY NEW RECIPES & SOUTHERN COOKING) TO SEE WHAT THE RESTAURANT SITUATION IS IN CHARLESTON. MAGAZINE HAS A CIRCULATION OF 250,000 WHICH EXTENDS FROM CALIFORNIA TO NY.SO YOU CAN BELIEVE WHAT IS IN IT & IT'S NOT FRIED FOOD ONLY.
I PLAY GOLF 3 TIMES A WEEK & HAVE NOT MISSED A DAY THIS YEAR EXCEPT FOR RAIN. PLAYED YESTERDAY & VERY WINDY & COLD ENOUGH TO WEAR A WINDBREAKER. LAST WEEK PLAYED IN SHORT SLEEVE GOLF SHIRT.
IDEAL TIME OF YEAR SINCE NOT TOO HOT & NOT TOO COLD. ALSO GREAT FISHING FOR SPOT TAIL BASS & WINTER TROUT IN HARBOR & FLATS THIS TIME OF YEAR. EASY TO GET A FISHING GUIDE.
YOU WILL HAVE A GREAT TIME,IF YOU GO NEXT YEAR. SEE YOU THERE.

But you are flying on the private charter with the team.

I'm flying to kentucky for the game but staying a few extra days. Flights are crazy there. I think it was like $390 for my airfare anyway.

Doc,

Going forward we'd appreciate it if you wouldn't post in ALL CAPS.

I'm sure you meant no harm but its sort of rude to the rest of the posters. It comes across as the internet equivalent of shouting.

Thanks.

All this time I've been wasting my time buying zagats yearly for restaurants and all along I could have just saved my time and gotten ( Garden & Gun ) magazine to get info on restaurants :)

BTW never been to Charleston so this sounds like a road trip that I'm going to be putting in the calendar for next year

I've had clients in the Lexington area. Plane tix are unpredictable, sometimes really cheap, others much higher. Right now it's epxensive to fly anywhere - $500 to vegas from ny RT for example.

I am going to try to get to Charleston - it a city I've never seen but want to.
