Charles Minlend Jr.

His dad was a good student. We could use a pit bull like Mineland on the boards. One my favorite SJU players.

Minlend's dad was a pharmacy student, an almost impossible academic load to handle while playing a major D1 two semester sport like basketball. I do not think that any SJU player over the past 40 years was also a pharmacy student, maybe ever.

I believe that Minlend Sr. was our first player to hail from Africa, and that his teammates asked him crazy things in semi-jest, such as "Did you ever kill a lion with a spear?", and "What does your father drive? An elephant?" The story goes that Minlend took the question seriously, and stunned his teammates when answered "Oh no. He drives a Mercedes" His own father was a diplomat, from Nigeria if I recall correctly.

When I attended Pharmacy School at SJU, students could not play D-1 sports.

@Coach_Rick57: Find it hard to believe that colleges aren't knocking down the doors to recruit Charles Minland of Concord First Assembly.
GPA: 4.4

Would be nice if we made an offer. His dad gave his all.

4.4 GPA Jesus that is ridiculous. Let's get him, there will be no disciplinary or academic issues and it sounds like he can play plus his father went to SJU. When you need to fill out a roster for next season, you gotta take an advantage of these opportunities.

Dad was a real warrior, I hope we get the kid, academics too, great!, I like a smart kid on the team especially if he is a player.

Somewhat related, Maverick Rowan, Ron's son, scored 35 points in big tourney in Ft Myers, Fl last night. Billy Donovan is targeting this stud along with a number of top schools.

Amen to that. Roll out the red-carpet for this kid. Minlend Sr. is one of my favorite Johnnies as well. And can we get the topic renamed to the correct spelling of Minlend?

Probably my 2nd favorite player after Christian Mullens.

@Coach_Rick57: The performance by Charles Minlend @CminlendJr of First Assembly was one of the better performances this season.

Idk if Lavin even has a radar on this point, but do you think this guy could be on it by any chance?

Doubt it. In fairness with Henderson, Stewart, Doughty, Sampson I can understand that. I just wanted to post a positive about son of a respected Johnny.

Kind of dissapoints me, I know no other major schools are knocking down his door, but he has family connection to the school, is a lock to qualify and is probably a smart player on the floor

And I guess you are right the guard position is cluttered, so maybe there just isn't space for him on the team
