@PaulBiancardi: Give Saint John's time. They have 2 of the best evaluators & recruiters in the country on staff in Matt Abdelmassih & Barry "Slice"Rohrssen

I guess Mr. Biancardi just woke up from a few months sleep?

Watched the whole game, but worse, listed to it as well. I appreciate all the praise Walton gave our program and coach, and even our assistant coaches. However, whatever he may be smoking has go to be laced with Red Bull. Post game analyst John Schick said Boog Sciambi has to be up for ESPN employee of the year. Line of the night from Sciambi, in response to Walton saying you should do something every day that scares you-"I am doing that right now".

Have listened to Walton doing games before and always thought he was talking nonsense. However, hearing him 3 days in a row while watching my Johnnies was brutal. That dude was definitely high. Hard to believe they allow him to spew that ridiculousness. Sciambi handled him as good as possible.

I watched all 3 games, with the sound off.....it's much better on the nerves. Walton just babbles!

listening to him speak is like verbal throwup

Does this game even officially count in terms of record and RPI?

No just in reputation

Game was painful to watch Foul shots poor defense bad shots etc Hope the improvement keeps coming

More painful to listen to the flower child

Boy do we get faked out They all go with the fakes When Mussini stops shooting we stop scoring They all get beat off the dribble badly AT least coach knows what to work on. Do not know the stats on the line but it sure was not pretty

20-27, 74.1%. Most of the misses came in that one stretch where I though fatigue was really taking hold. That might be what's entering your mind.

It takes almost twice as long to travel to Hawaii from NYC than it does to Europe. Then playing three early morning games in a row. Second half looked sluggish but so did the Hawaiians. Frankly I thought the game would be closer but it wasn't as close as the score and Amar having the game of his career (to date) was nice to see.

St. John's Head Coach Chris Mullin...

On the significance of today's win:

"Obviously, a win makes the long flight home a little more bearable and enjoyable. It was important [for us] to be able to bounce back like we did and respond to adversity. I think after the first night we took a step [in the right direction], and today we were rewarded for that."

On Chaminade:

"A lot of credit goes to Chaminade. They were a very skilled team [that] plays beautifully together. They play a really nice style and they're always in the game because they shoot the ball so well."

On the comfort level of getting into a shootout:

"I'm all into sharing the ball and playing free. I think that's a beautiful way to play. Until we have more bodies, we have to be somewhat diligent how we do things, but long term I think that's the way to play basketball."

On learning freshman forward Kassoum Yakwe is eligible to play:

"Great news and I'm happy for him. He's grateful for everything. He works very hard and is a great teammate."

On the takeaways from the trip to Maui:

"I think it's good for the guys to be together as far as bonding goes. Playing against really high-level talent with big, athletic bodies was good for our guys. Every experience for us is going to be marked up as a way to help us build [the program]."

Freshman Guard Federico Mussini...

On his 3-point shooting:

"Everybody on the team knows to shoot when their open so it's just about confidence. Sometimes shots don't go in, but we have to keep shooting and [keep] believing in ourselves."

On the importance of going home with a victory:

"It's really important [to leave Maui with a win]. [There is a] difference between 3-3 and 4-2. We lost against two really good teams, but we improved every day since we've got here and that's the important thing."

Listening to Bill Walton gives me a headache and I can't imagine 15 hours of working one on one with him, but I have to say that the ESPN clowns mocking him rubs me the wrong way.

I am glad however that he remembers (H)akeem Olajuwan playing for St. John's because I sure don't.

Thank God our games are on Fox, I could not listen again to the "One who flew over the cuckoo clock."

.Finally this is the kind of shooting we heard about Amar, got to give the kid confidence. Hopefully he'll continue to pop the three pointers when open.

Exactly. This "olay defense" causes Sima to pick up unnecessary fouls. Mvouvika has to stop leaving his feet on every fake.

Amar with 17? Wtf?

Against a 5'9 front line:)

NOT impressed with the way we played today

Lack of any defense at all is the worst for me...Some of the guys (Mvouika, Mussini) are just slow afoot...others, such as Johnson, seem to give up easy (seems a bit lazy)..probbaly overreaching but not impressed with him...
