Attendance reported as 3,611. Not the interest I had hoped for.
We were talking about attendance at the game last night

I was at the game in 92 when St. John’s scored 135 and was trying to remember how attendance was back then for these types of games. Then thought there’s 3000 give or take students living on campus Why not go to the game?

Pinzon was clearly pushed further down the rotation last night and I agree he was forcing it and off target when he did finally make an appearance. However, I’m kind of surprised by how many of you guys seem down on him overall. When he’s healthy and not in his own head like last night I see a far more well rounded offensive player than we usually get here. He’s long and has shooting, passing & ball handling ability. That alone feels too rare to take for granted. He’s creative and crafty. I’m not at all worried about his offense. I think his defense is what’s more likely to keep him on the bench. Assuming he’s not a liability on D I think the development of a player with Pinzon’s skill set and creation abilities is going to maximize guys like Storr and Gardner. I’m still all in on him even if he isn’t Coach’s flavor of the moment.

A few thoughts after a solid win.
The zone was a good move. Soriano should be always on the floor with the zone. He has difficulty with the switching man because of foot speed.

Jones and Wusu seem to be our best 3 ballers. Too soon to annoint
Storr after one good game.

Carbelo is exciting. Easily the quickest guard we have had in a long time. Hold the mustard.

Do not see Storr cracking the starting five just yet. Put together a few good games…..then perhaps.

Agree Pinzon is a step too slow.

TV showed a sparse crowd. Need more fannies in the seats? Develop local rivalries Hofstra, Iona, Fordham.
Hofstra and Fordham will bring more opposing fans and that’s it. Iona with Pitino would draw but mostly fans who want to sit their and complain that he should be our coach and when he leaves after this season, they fall back into the Hofstra, Fordham.

Heck a lot of these schools don’t even play each other.

While I somewhat agree, I think there is more to Storrs arsenal then outside shooting. He goes strong to the basket and is a much stronger rebounder then the others. We will need his physicality for the Big East wars. I would force feed him as much as possible to get him ready.
Stronger rebounder than Wusu? I don’t think so and right now it’s not even close.

Memo to others, don’t rely on fox sports to catch the replays of games. Shows the providence stone hill score and then just goes black.

Sounds like I didn’t miss much and everyone is in their normal cheerful post game mood. Told you Storr could shoot. Time to husk some corn.
Replay or Recording?

I attended last night and watched 1st half this morning…no issues

I agree with those who are pushing for games against more local schools. If we replaced Merrimack, Lafayette, CCSU and New Hampshire with Columbia, St. Francis, Hofstra and Fordham we would generate more local interest and our OOC schedule would be improved. I am glad that LIU and Niagara are on the schedule this year, as they should be every year.

I was able to watch it today. Wasn’t able to hold off on seeing the score.

Yesterday night the fox sports app had the replay available, but when it started up it was the wrong game.

There is a ton of upside with Storr. Big time athlete, and appears to be a much better shooter than anyone expected. It is clear he is still a work in progress, which is true except for a select few freshman. He definitely needs work as a passer, and with decision making. It will be a big step up in competition for him very soon, where we will all learn a lot more about his readiness. Wusu, however, is already battle tested in the Big East wars. He brings toughness and is a good passer, and is shooting the 3 with a lot of confidence. I see him primed for a good season.

Although many here wondered how Curbelo will fit in, I see Posh as the one who is dealing with adjusting. Since day one, even with Champ, this was Posh's team. It just doesn't feel that way so far, and I'm wondering how that will affect him and the team. Posh will figure it out.

His liabilities on defense are lessened considerably when the team goes zone like they did last night. Maybe we will see more of that and Pinzon as well.

I think in the future, perhaps by sometime this season, Storr will be a stronger rebounder as he has more length and hops on his side over WUSU. Remember Wusu is a Jr. Storr a frosh. When Storr is still around as a junior, (or even by next season) Im sure you will se e better stats then Wusu currently has. Im also certain his shot will be blocked allot less then Wusu's has been over the past two seasons.

I was including attacking the basket as offensive potential. How would you quantify him being a much better rebounder than those guys? Both of which have proven to be more than solid as rebounders.

Storr has 1 board in 37 minutes so far. Wusu has 15 more rebounds in 15 more minutes.
Once Storr gets a feel for the game I do believe he will be a superior rebounder due to his length and hops. Again, he's only a frosh feeling his way.Lets see where he is midway through the season.

Agree Mike, I too would like to see more local games but is it not obvious why Cragg and Anderson don't want to play more local teams like Fordham and Iona? It doesn't take much to figure that out.

And he might be but that was my point. Right now he’s not. I do think those other guys are really solid rebounders for guards. Wusu especially

Granted stats have limited value after 3 games, but right now Wusu is the team's 3rd leading rebounder while only playing 17 mpg.
5Th in the BE last year amongst all underclassmen guards. 1 of the few ahead was posh. And there’s no way he was top 5 in minutes amongst them.
