Can we please start another complaining thread?

I want to vent about service fees on event tickets. This should be totally illegal or at the very least regulated. My three $64 seats for the Kansas Game were increased by 41.25% after the Ticketmaster fees for service. That is ridiculous!!!!

I am not against paying a reasonable fee for a true service when it is warranted but I do not want to be gouged for service fees for little to no actual service. It would be far better if the real price for Tickets was just posted without the nonsense of adding on an additional bogus $80.00 when it comes time to check out. This practice has gotten totally out of hand and needs to be stopped!
my $64 ticket came out to like 94. 50% markup isnt a service fee that's a mafia pay up ( no offense Monte )

Christmas is the seventh studio album and fifth major label studio album released by Canadian-Italian singer Michael Bublé. The album was released on October 21, 2011, in Ireland,[1] on October 24, 2011, in the United Kingdom,[2] and on October 25, 2011, in the United States. On the week ending December 10, 2011, Christmas rose to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album sales chart, becoming Bublé's third chart-topper following 2007's Call Me Irresponsible and 2009's Crazy Love, and spent five weeks at No. 1.[3]As of January 2019 this is Buble's most successful album with more than 12 million copies worldwide,[4] making it one of the best-selling albums of the 21st century. The album also won a Juno Award for Album of the Year, making it the first holiday album to win the award.[5] The album was re-released on November 26, 2012, containing four additional tracks, including a new recording of "The Christmas Song". Bublé also released a reworked version of "White Christmas", this time featuring Shania Twain, as a single. This version premiered on Bublé's NBC television special, Home for the Holidays, on December 10, 2012.[6]

You're getting off easy.
My wife wants tickets to Music Man on Broadway for Christmas and the service charges are insane.
In a similar vein, just booked a vacation for next year. Can't stand the extra daily resort fee tacked onto the hotel charge.

I find it just lovely paying $25 a day  for 2 bottles of  purified water and hi speed wifi, both of which I get anyway from my loyalty status.  Then there's the valet charge that can be $25 a day and up. To be fair, some hotels also include one cup of coffee.

I think mjm is just a bit jealous of Mario Lopez because he dated & married the original Doritos Girl....when mjm thought he had a shot at her.

I'm an equal opportunity hater. I hate Mario Lopez, Justin Beiber, Chrissy Teigen, Anne Hathaway all equally I think they are all phonies. I'd throw Hilaria Baldwin in there too but my friend is best friends with Alec's brother Billy and he says she is really nice privately so I'll give her a pass on my complaints about people

Speaking of "phonies" and "Baldwins", the public is gonna soak up the BS Alec shovels at Stephanapoilas in that exclusive interview. Now he has no idea how the gun fired? I've never know a gun to fire by itself, and he was the one holding it. Of course he's an actor, and a pretty good one at that, so he'll have the viewers taking pity on him by the time that interview is over. "Poor, poor, Alec". Hey SNL has to hold the record for most guest hosts who have killed someone. Off the top of my head;
Robert Blake
OJ
Snoop
Baldwin

Im probably missing a few. That doesn't count the former cast members who were killed by someone else.

Thanks for reminding me of the Christmas when my oldest was 5 or 6 when I must have heard “Silver and Gold” about 500 times.

My favorite Baldwin is Adam, and he’s not related to the LI crew.

I totally agree that the Ticketmastr surcharges are absurd.   While I love the user interface that allows purchasers to select the exact seats desired, the fees are just frightening, and the venues must push back against them - fans too,

Car rental practices are ridiculous also.   They have been exacerbated by Covid, and I suspect the chip shortage, allowing them to sell used vehicles at a tremendous markup,   Now the prices have surged since they have small inventories as travel has picked up.    Two weeks ago I rented an SUV in Arizona for 5 nights - cost $873.

I frequently travel to Florida and even pre covid on holiday travel the prices normally double or triple for car rentals.   If you take a late flight, they do run out of cars which can be miserable if your destination is an hour from the airport and you need a car to get around.

On one such holiday week, they wanted to downsize me at the counter from an SUV to a compact car.   I told them I had five people, then they offered a pickup truck.  I still said no.   They searched and found a jeep compass which I said I would take, but said "How will I know it will be downstairs when I get there?"   They assured me, "We put the ilcense plate on the agreement.   That's your car."

I went downstairs and the Jeep Compass was pulling out of the garage towards the checkout gates.   I sprinted to the gate, and told the gate person that was my car.   I showed them the agreement, and of course those people are like minimum wage workers who could give a crap.   I stood in front of the car and blocked it's exit.   The driver threatened to call the police.  I said "Go ahead.   That car and license plate are on the agreement and it was rented to me."

The manager ran over, and he had blown it by giving away my car.   HE said he'd give me a car for free (my rental was $900).   It was a compact and I said "What am I going to do with that. I have 5 adults and 2 dogs."   HE quickly said, "I'll give you two cars for free."   So I took that once he assured me I wouldn't be charged.

When my stepfather last snowbirded in Palm Springs in 2019 his 10 week rental car was about $800 with monthly discounts and all from Dollar.  He called them for this winter.  Same length and period, $5K.  I found him a better deal but that's crazy.

LOL

Have used Car Rental 8 and gotten good deals but haven't used them in a couple of years due to no fly away vacations do to Covid.

Rules

1. Dont' get upsold at the counter.  Agents are trained to do that.
2. Your auto insurance covers rentals
3. Major credit cards also offer collision waiver insurance as a perk.  (Agents threaten that they will charge you immediately in an accident and there is a deductible)
4.  Reserve early but check rates constantly up to departure.  They often drop rates 24 to 48 hours before rental but you ate locked into a rate unless you make a new reservation.
5. If you rent a smaller car and they arent available, an upgrade is free.. they cant downgrade you without lowering your rate.
6.  Grace periods on returns have been shortened as have been hourly rates.  In as little as 2 hours late you can be charged for a day.
7. Know where the rental car return is, especially if off airport and allow sufficient time to make a wrong turn.
8. I avoided off brands which in my experience can be sleazy and hard to fight if you have a problem.
9. Prepaid rentals can save you money but are not refundable
