Can we please start another complaining thread?

Parking at UBS costs $45 but I can get an uber from work for $21
That's only 1 way. It'll cost you about the same round trip, but at least you can drink without having to worry. What's parking cost at the Coliseum? $45 just seems obscene to me, especially for a suburban venue.

That's exactly why I'm doing it. No worries and can drink beer at the game. No way I'm driving home from Elmont to Huntington after even having 2 big beers

Haven't been on Hempstead Turnpike in Elmont in a long time, but you could probably park in the Home Depot parking lot and walk to UBS in 20 minutes, or catch a two-minute uber.

Of course, that walk would have been sketchy 40 years ago and not sure how much Elmont has cleaned up down that way. My brother was a paramedic/cop in the city in some of the worst places imaginable, and he said the most disgusting place he ever stepped foot into was some motel near the new arena as a volunteer fireman.

Be careful of Uber surge pricing. Sometimes they jack up the price when demand is high, especially during events.

I want to vent about service fees on event tickets. This should be totally illegal or at the very least regulated. My three $64 seats for the Kansas Game were increased by 41.25% after the Ticketmaster fees for service. That is ridiculous!!!!

I am not against paying a reasonable fee for a true service when it is warranted but I do not want to be gouged for service fees for little to no actual service. It would be far better if the real price for Tickets was just posted without the nonsense of adding on an additional bogus $80.00 when it comes time to check out. This practice has gotten totally out of hand and needs to be stopped!

They charge these fees because apparently enough people are willing to pay them I sure would not pay $45 to park. If enough people balk, the fees will come down or there will be very little attendance.

You're getting off easy.
My wife wants tickets to Music Man on Broadway for Christmas and the service charges are insane.
In a similar vein, just booked a vacation for next year. Can't stand the extra daily resort fee tacked onto the hotel charge.

I'm going to guess that Ticketmaster has to be kicking something back to the venues, either paying a license fee to be the ticket seller, or some percentage of fees.  There is a convenience involved in terms of a very good tech platform that allows easy transfer of tickets and mobile ticketing but agree fees are outrageous.

Curious then Ron - what kept you from buying tickets - the cost of tickets, the venue, or the parking fees?  Or did you buy and just complaining?

I have looked at the UBS maps and see there are three parking areas - platinum, emerald, and silver. Only emerald is available as a prepay at $45.  I'm not sure but silver may be open for this event and for a lower fee.  It appears to be across hempstead turnpike, accessible by tunnel..

I bought 4 tix at $84 each plus $104 in fees.  Taking Uber to avoid the parking s#@* storm.
Last time I do that,

I decided to go to the NJIT game and buy tickets at the SJU window with the assumption I would NOT pay a fee! Boy was I wrong, fees or not I paid $40 for 2 tickets where I could have bought the same tickets on SeatGeek for $19!  Never again!

That a $500+ night, probably closer to $650 once you include the uber fees and a couple of shared food / drink items... and that's post-tax;

Pre-tax, that's like $1,000 - that's a big chunk of salary for many out there. Live entertainment is not cheap in NYC.

There are those who feel that we should stop complaining and pay whatever price(within reason)'is being charged because it both supports the school and helps to build a more successful program. Anyone who knows me knows that I vehemently disagree with the later. In fact I'll argue that the school has less of an incentive to provide us with a winning program when attendance is good. Having said that, would anyone pay nearly Broadway theater prices for an off-Broadway show just to support the theater industry and the actors? I mean, if off-Broadway shows were, say, $100 per ticket, those theaters would be close to empty. There's something called "value". At $100 per ticket, off-Broadway is not a good value. Same holds true for college ball unless you are talking about the very highest level teams in marquee match ups. At the prices that Knight is paying,
combined with the parking fee, cost of food/drink, etc, I  just don't see the value. I respect anyone who chooses to spend that kind of money, the same as I respect anyone who refuses to do so.

I am glad to see you are all having fun with this thread.

$45 for Parking!!!! I am starting to rethink my plan on taking the LIRR from work and meeting my wife who would drive from home at the Arena.  Then was thinking a bite after the game down the road at King Umberto's in Franklin Square. I might just ask her to go to the LIRR Station, take the Train to Jamaica (Train doesn't stop at the Westbound Platform as the infrastructure is not ready) meet me there and we take either a shuttle to the Belmont Platform (if running) or a Hempstead Train to the Elmont Station. Then either walk the approximate mile or take the shuttle bus.  Messes up the dinner plans though.

I also heard from someone it took them two hours to get out of one of the lots after an Islander game.  Flashback to Metlife Stadium.

That's nothing. Parking for a Rams or chargers game at SoFi starts around $75 + tax.  ;)

Playing games  on campus at Carnesecca has some advantages to spectators.

I moved to Fl. When Miami was in the BE , I went to every SJU game there. Tickets were $10 each and parking was dirt cheap, best sports deal in town.
