@Butler, Wed., Feb. 28, 8:30p, CBSSN

To be honest, what worries me most about this game is the refereeing. We couldn’t get a home whistle in MSG yesterday . We haven’t had favorable whistle in any conference games this season. With the way we play defense it’s going to be an issue unless we completely dominate the game. If it’s close in the last five minutes Butler will get every call in that building. For some reason the Big East refs give us absolutely no deference. Now, I understand that we reach foolishly and get too aggressive thirty feet from the basket but there were some phantom calls yesterday.

That one on Soriano with about a minute left yesterday, was a disgrace. The guy from Creighton completely flopped on it.

Other than that, and a few others, I thought yesterday's game was reffed fine. I don't go nuts on no-calls, unless it's obvious.

If you can beat Kalkbrenner down the court, Creighton will give you the two points, and try to set up the 3, rather than foul you.

There was a call on Glenn Taylor where the replay showed that he had absolutely no contact with the opposing player

Maybe I am alone on this, but I thought we benefitted from the reffing yesterday. Yes CU had significantly less fouls called, but the refs also let us play aggressive and physical without really stopping us with constant hand check calls.

Taylor is a great player WHEN he can actually defend without fouling, he struggles with that a lot. He plays super physical. When we get a crew that allows that instead of calling every little hand check, we have a way better shot at winning the game

Soriano hasn’t had a good game for some time now. He is big and strong but slow and has regressed more than anyone on the team. Those outside shots he missed yesterday and the ones he wouldn’t take were easily taken and made in the first part of the season. He needs his confidence back Ric!

I actually thought Soriano played the game he needed to play against Creighton. He didn't takeover by any means, but he wasn't such a defensive liability, which has lost us games in the past.

I always liked Posh and wish the best for him. That being said I hope he plays like garbage & it contributes to a St John’s win. Are we allowed to like Posh and still love Pitino and hope St John’s wins?

Maybe I’m missing something but what is with the warnings or complaints about anyone bringing up Posh? (It’s always like…“All the Posh freaks are gonna talk about how much they love Posh BUT…*insert negative comment about Posh or fans who like him*”) It happens before anyone even brings him up! It just feels awkwardly controlling & unnecessarily confrontational to me. Who cares if a handful of people on a message board mention that they liked a guy who played here ONE season ago. His team is literally about to play St John’s and this is all very recent. It couldn’t be more relevant. Why the need to control a message board conversation?
I agree wholeheartedly. I liked Posh and was sorry that he left. Yes, he had his warts as a player but nobody played harder than he did

It reminds me of my high school basketball coaching days. I worked at Rollie Massimino's camp for several years. He was one of the nicest guys you could ever meet and he was always willing to share his knowledge of basketball with anyone. I often told Coach Mass that I hope that he wins every game every year with the exception of the games against St John's. I could never root against my alma mater. In fact, I have more love for St John's basketball than any pro sports team that I root for and always will!!

Not hugely optimistic about this game. On paper we should be positioned to win it. But it's hard to win at Hinckle and getting back into the conversation only to immediately shoot ourselves in the foot is the SJU brand.
They're an experienced team so playing at hinckle shouldn't matter, unless the refs give them home calls.

Just play as you did at msg yesterday.

I know it'll be a hostile crowd, youjust tune them out, or better yet dominant them and make their fans go shhhhhhhhhh all damn game.

You know Posh want to go off and end our hopes, gotta shut him down and make him turn it over atleast 5 times.
Got no other choice but to win if you want to leep your ncaa dreams alive. Just listen and follow Ricks instructions, and execute.

Go get it Champs!
