Bronx Bombers 2017 Season Thread

Here come the 40 man moves. With Wade coming up I hope they DFA Gallegos.

The DFA'd Carter so there is an open slot on the 40 man roster.

Forgot about him. Still have the crunch coming. Especially if they want to bring up Adams or Acevedo to help out staff this year. Toss in Frazier and Fowler. That's four off the top of my head they need to make room for by end of year

Shitty game before going away, oh well.

Sev was in a zone though, career high 12Ks in 7innings 1ER and 6hits.

You could say our 2 best SP's now are Jordan and Luis, and our 2 best hitters are Aaron and Gary, all 4 from our minor league system.
Adams has 8 starts on our Triple a team, I predict he'll be up from the first weeks after the break to the last week in July. The future looks promising, just can't rush them.

severino - no walks in 7 innings.
bullcrap pen - 6 walks in less than 2 innings & 3 of them scored.
clippard needs to go yesterday.
*Severino (23 years, 127 days) became the youngest American League pitcher with at least 12 strikeouts and no walks since Jason Bere (22 years, 105 days) of the White Sox on Sept. 8, 1993, vs. Boston.
"I think everything went well," Severino said. "My fastball command was really good tonight. My slider was good. We threw a lot of changeups for strikes or for chase. Everything was working today."

I wish I knew why Girardi used the pen the way he did last night. Who was not available?

He said Chapman and Green were not available. When you get 7 outstanding innings out of your starter, you have to find a way.

Tonite's Probables-
Tanaka (5 - 7, 5.74) vs. Rodon

They finally sent down Holder. It's like they kept him on the Team to justify putting him on the 40 man roster two years early last year so they could call him up and hope he could help them in the crunch last year. He has been mediocre at best ever since. Not sure who replaced him but Holiday is now on the DL with a viral infection and Andujar takes his place on the roster (he, Mason Williams and Mateo were the only healthy field position players on the 40 man roster that are in the minors)

Thursday Nite's Probables-
Cessa (0-2, 6.57) vs. Shields (1-1, 4.26).

Fowler on the way up.

I guess Bird goes to the 60 day DL to make room on the 40 man roster so they can add Fowler to it and then ustin goes to the 10 Day DL to make room for Fowler to be added to the 25 man ML roster.

Fowler ruptured right patella tendon running into a wall in his first ML inning, immediate surgery and out for the rest of the year. Just brutal. Gets ML pay though while out.

Need to call an outfielder up to replace him. Oh, wait we can't. Placed Austin on the DL and send Andujar back down (after going 3-4 with four RBIs in his ML debut) for Fowler, DFA Mason so we could put Carter (who we DFA last week) back on the 40 Man and then placed on the ML 25 Man to give them a first basemen (if you want to call him that as I have seen little evidence that he has much of a glove there). So by DFA Mason, he is in limbo and might get picked up by another team (and all he has done fine ever time they call him up). With Fowler now going to the 60 Day DL which leaves an open spot on the 40 man and we might see Clint Frazier added to it and then called up to replace Fowler. Andujar can return immediately as he doesn't have to wait the required 10 days after being sent down since he would be replacing an injured player. Or they can add or maybe they jus and I guess is play well whenever called up). Mark Payton or Jake Cave would be other options who would have to be added to the 40 man.

Don't think it automatically has to be an outfielder. Gardner, Ellsbury, and Judge are pretty set out there, and they have Refsnyder in a pinch, if they need him. It does need to be a position player though. In fact, I'd like to see two bench players come up, and a pitcher get cut, so that we don't have to have 10 pitching changes ever night.

Also, if he's going to play both Romine and Sanchez every night, I'd prefer Sanchez at first (even if that's giving up a little bit of defense) and Romine catching. Romine just seems to have a much better working relationship with this pitching staff, then Sanchez does (I am by no means advocating for the removal of Sanchez from the lineup - that would just be plain ridiculous).

I like carrying 3 catchers for the flexibility it gives the manager. Of course, they need to be able to play 1b and/or be a viable DH.
