Branch

Jalen Reynolds swatted Jamal pretty bad in our first matchup, but other than that, he doesn't get blocked that much

So some of our posters who are not really doctors, but play one on redmen.com were at it again. Amazing how many experts were able to gather information from their couch and make a diagnosis.

I was awaiting for the date of Branch's amputation.

I operated on him this morning. He will not be ready for Wednesday but only because there was a slight accident from the gas stove he left on. He needs to sort through some personal things at the apartment. Poor kid can't catch a break! First he slices his finger and now he blows up his apartment.

I was at the game Saturday, and anyone who was there can tell you that Jamal was really hurting. I DVR'd the game and watched it after I got home that nite and it looked bad. He was not exaggerating the injury. A groin injury can take weeks to recover from. I just hope he has amazing recuperative powers.

Like all great JB’s (James Bond, Jason Bourne, Justin Brownlee…:)), expect Jamal Branch to be back soon, better than ever.

Would not expect to see him until at least NCAA tourney, if at all.
Was playing really well and sucks for him and us obviously.

Don't know about eveyone else but I would like to see his minutes to to Stewart instead of Felix.

Your experince reading the MRIs of the rare cases of "pulled, hip flexor groins" from your HDTV are needed.

I think we should all wait until we hear what the injury/recovery time is before we all start playing doctor.

No actually played sports, pulled groins are better than hamstrings usually but even if mild they take about 2 weeks. If Branch was in MLB he would already be on 15 day DL. And you run more in basketball obviously. Secondly he looked like he was in a lot of pain so unless it was a Rysheed Jordan type "injury", it did not appear to be mild. I am pretty sure sitting on coach and eating Buffalo Wings you did not encounter too may pulled groins so I will forgive you for your ignorance in the matter.

No I played sports as well. Had the same crap happen you had. But I draw the line on being irresponsible about giving out a diagnosis . He could be out months, weeks, days, or hours.

And we have seen (or been through in your case, since you are such an athletic freak) players wince in so much pain, and it isn't anywhere nearly as bad. Conversely, we see guys walk off the field /court only to find out later it is a season ender.

And if this is like a MLB injury which requires a 15 day DL, if it is minor, they retroactive and make it shorter stay.

Plus, why would a baseball want to be shorthanded for a couple of weeks, when they play basically every day, and can get an immediate minor league call up. Apples to oranges, imo.

A week and a half of rest makes Branch available in game one of BE tourney, for example.

I don't know anything about the injury, but he did remain on the bench and walked around the court with the rest of the seniors at the conclusion of the game. I took that as a good sign.

Felix is a more accomplished fouler.

HIs lefty scoop finish at the rim is real pretty.

It also gets blocked a decent amount of the time

?

Yesterday was the first time I remember that happening.

Really? Im one of his biggest fans but his shot gets altered a ton.

Altered yes. But poster said blocked. Never seen one of those swatted until Saturday

I'm a big Branch fan, but I am under the impression he gets blocked a fair deal. I still have no problem with him ever taking it to the basket.

I was not diagnosing him with Typhoid. Pulled groins, sprained ankles, pulled hamstrings are fairly common occurences and the time frame, though depending on severity are pretty universal. Yes if it is a mild one, the BET would be a possibility. I was simply judging by his reaction, that it did not look like a mild one. If that proves incorrect, GREAT! Better for him and us. I was simply noting that I would prepare to go forward w/o him.

The shoes still available on Ebay?
Hopefully all goes well this week, and I'll stick to my end of the bet.

Oh give me a home
where the Balamou roam
Where the Dom and Alibegovic play
Where seldom is hoid
A discouraging woid
And the hips
Are not flexored
Ndiaye

Homer, homer on the net
Where the briefs
And the blankets are wet
Where seldom is hoid
A discouraging woid
And the groin
is not achey
Ndiaye

Any muscular injury causing a level discomfort that was obviously significant, is going to take a minimum of two weeks. I agree, we have to put him on the shelf and hope he is ready for the NCAA tourney.

I'm hearing it's a hip flexor injury not a groin injury which can take longer to heal (think Piazza) . A minor hip flexor should have him out for one game at best, unless of course it's a major hip flexor.

Piazza's had his groan muscle almost completely tear away from the bone. Everyone all together OUCH!!!!

I had a pretty mild one in spring before my senior year of HS. I did not miss any games, but it bothered me for pretty much the whole season, which in HS is really only 2 months and probably had Pace questioning the scholarship they gave me. When I got there they definitely questioned it for different reasons.
