Will not drag out. SJU will make a very competitive offer and then it's up to him.

If no it's on to plan B.
Any cluess on who plan B might be?
If Hurley is plan A we are in big trouble! And fast
I heard Billy Donovan is plan B. Good enough?
Remember the Daily News back page years ago. That was Repole driven. He's definitely a Repole favorite along with Rick. He's doing really good with OKC. He would actually go above Rick in terms of Grand Slams.
Oh, I was only placating that nutcase.

Don’t kill me, TB.

Odds of TB being Karen Sypher?

Doctor gave me 6 months to live, I couldn’t afford the bill, he gave me 6 more months.

I love this crowd!

Goodfellas? Love it lol

ASU may have more money than us, but come on Bobby...do you want to be in the desert on the west coast where no one gives a rat's arse about basketball or do you want to be in the Mecca under the bright lights in the most fertile recruiting grounds right near your stomping grounds? You can always buy another place down south or out west to escape to for vacations. Want to become a legend where the fans are passionate? Come get St. John's back on our feet.

It may not be worth much, but an article in a pub called AZcentral earlier today, implies Bobby ain’t goin’ nowhere.
He likes it out there, people say hello, something they don’t always do in Jersey, his family likes it there, his body has healed out there from the car accident and his playing career grind, et cetera.
Not necessarily ‘new’ comments, seem regurgitated from earlier in the year when he was linked to the UCLA job.
But what do we expect a ‘home’ pub to draw credence from?
We should know soon one way or the other.
And the sooner the better.
If need be, got to act on ‘Plan B’.

If Hurley says no thanks, we have to go with Pitino. Cluess would be a huge mistake. Guy has never coached real college hoops.

A lot of discussion and planning as already been dedicated to the Hurley offer (including the identification of possible assistant coaches). The behind-the-scenes effort seems to have started well before this weekend. I think we will make an aggressive run at getting it done.

St. John's attendance was up this year and the school was reminded of the potential windfall ($) that a winning program could prompt. I think they want Hurley and I would guess he's our next coach.

You guys see this interview? Dude just randomly quit as president of the Lakers.

Mods you can move this to the appropriate forum.

I do hope you’re right on this JohnnyFan.
Just getting nervous with no word from the desert...you know the nights there are chilly.
Lol.

$2.1 million asu salary He will also receive a $1 million retention bonus on Jan. 1 of 2022.

Just to match our offer would have to be in 2.4 range

It would like take 6 years, 18 million. Wonder if brotherly competition kicks in and he'd want 6 years 21 million

Don't kill me here but I'm wondering what people think of Mike Rhoades as an option if Pitino isn't in the cards and Hurley stays in the desert. Seems he did a good job turning around a historically long suffering Rice program and he's done well at VCU. Thoughts?

Maybe he is SJU's Plan B? ;)

Looking much less likely now. Not good. Make a final offer to Hurley and if he says no which is likely, go get Pitino. Unless Repole really opens wallet big time we can’t afford Hurley. Pitino would take $2 mil.

Believe Fordham said yesterday we'd have a decision in 24 to 48 hours on Hurley which takes us to Thursday afternoon at the outside. I think we have no choice but to be patient and wait and see where we are tomorrow.
Can't see Pitino happening - SDNY is not going to apologize to him ;)
Curious what Plan B is. Maybe it is Cluess; other names I've seen are Billy Donovan (long shot he'd come), Thad Matta, Johnny Dawkins of UCF, New Jersey guy Kevin Boyle. Should be interesting couple of days.

Dude relax. Seriously

Obviously Hurley has a nice leveraging opportunity at ASU it would seem. Imo, the wild card is how much he really wants to return home, not to mention the top figure SJU can really offer. I suspect we will know soon enough. Cragg seems to play his cards close to vest, so no use getting too anxious. He seems to know what he is doing. Cragg may be making the most important decision in his career, so I am sure he will be diligent and not as impulsive as we tend to be.

If Pitino was any kind of real option he would be plan A. In what world is Hurley a better option than Pitino on a basketball court? Unfortunately it appears Hurley is the main target, then probably some other former annoying D uke guy, then Cluess. If that really is the landscape sign me up for Cluess.
