We came back from 15 down in the last 8 minutes .Johnny defeat of St. Joes at Alumni Hall .I remember Hawks first field goal off the opening tip , and I said OMG we eventually won .Redmen blow out of visiting Kansas team at Alumni Hall Albie Schwartz put the clamps on Jo Jo White . Johnny victory over visiting Tennessee, the Bernie and Ernie show . The two of them were in foul trouble in the first three minutes .I know Stevie Honzo did the Michigan game I'm not sure if he did any of the other gamess .

Big games I've been at

1.1964 Holiday Festival semi-finals and finals. Michigan St. beats Princeton and a
superb Bill Bradley performance. St. John's beats Michigan St. and Cazzie Russell for
the championship.

2. 1965 NIT Championship. St. John's beats Villanova in Joe Lapchick's last game.

3. 1968 Holiday Festival - St. John's beats #2 North Carolina
St. John's beats #3 Louisville

4. 1968 Holiday Festival - St. John's loses to UCLA and Lew Alcindor

5. 1979 NCAA - Black Sunday as St. John's beats Duke and Penn beats NC at
Greensboro Arena. I was living in Virginia at the time and it was great to shut up all those
ACC fans.

6. 1983 Big East Championship game with Chris Mullin, David Russell and Billy
Goodwin. First Big East tournament at MSG.

7. 1985 St. John's beats Georgetown in DC and becomes #1.

8. 1985 St. John's beats Villanova at the Spectrum. Chris Mullin puts on an offensive and
defensive show in the last 2 minutes to win a close game going away.

9. 1986 Big East Championship. St. John's beats Syracuse. Rowan's shot and Berry's
block.

10. 1998 St. John's beats Uconn at MSG.

11. 1999 St. John's loses to Duke in OT at MSG as Artest hits incredible 3 to send game
into OT.

12. 2000 Big East Championship. St. John's beats Uconn.

13. 2003 St. John's beats Georgetown for NIT championship.

14. 2004 or 2005 - St. John's destroys ranked NC State in Holiday Festival

15. 2005 or 2006 - St. John's defeats ranked Pitt at MSG. I get to meet Chris Mullin
after game.

Any big win needs to start with a win over Marathon oil or whoever was that we used to play pre season

Any Norm Roberts win would be big because there were so few.

All those Lavin first year wins at MSG and that road Nova win

I forget what year but beating Cuse at MSG I think Sherman Douglas got hurt. Any Boo Harvey last second shot win. Was at the game in DC when he hit that one

The early Jarvis teams had big ones

Beating the Russians in an exhibition game at Alumni Hall when I believe Bernard Rencher hit a couple of free throws at the end of the game to win it. November 1977.

I remember that game. It was televised on CBS on a Saturday. It was during the '88-'89 season (Sealy, Werdann, and Buchanan's freshmen season).

My freshman year at SJU was Lavin's first year. I was lucky enough to be at most of the MSG and Carnesecca games including Pitt and Duke, 2 of my favorite sporting events of all time.

64 holiday festival
65 nit

beating rick barry - i believe it was by one, down a lot at half time

That '68 Holiday Festival it was UNC, not the ville. UNC was #2 at the time, week later we went down to Carolina and beat the new #2 Davidson Wildcats in the Charlotte Colisum 75 - 74 as Billy Paultz hit a baseline jumper as the clock expired. That had to be the best week in Redman history as we beat #2, lost to #1 and then beat the new #2.

I was at that 1975 Tennessee win for the Earnie and Bernie show, or maybe it was the Bernie and Earnie show. The first Big East Championship at MSG. Many great wins at MSG. And all the disappointing seasons that followed.

Section 9 you are right. I was at a game where we beat the Wes Unseld / Butch Beard Louisville team but that must have been the 1967 Holiday Festival. I was at the North Carolina & UCLA games in 1968, but obviously not at the Davidson game. I agree that it was probably the best week of basketball in Redmen history.

January 1966 at Alumni Hall, with about six seconds left and Syracuse up by one (65-64), Bobby McIntyre wrests Dave Bing's inbounds pass from Jim Boeheim's hands (almost right in front of me), then races two-thirds the length of the court for the winning basket, his lay-up just beating the buzzer. The place goes wild. Last year, when I asked him about that, he grinned and said that Boeheim still insists he was fouled. (So even back then, JB was a whiner.)

The 1999 Duke game was incredible even though it was a loss

Packed garden. I can still see where my father and I sat. We were high giving everyone around us

The Pittsburgh was awesome

I remember the announces saying do not storm the court

It was a family outing. After we ate in the city. Red everywhere
ESPN kept showing the highlights

I was at the Louisville game . I remember watching Louisville warm up and do their layups .They were
the most intimidating team I had seen up til that day .

Al, in the '67 Holiday Festival, we beat Syracuse, then BC in the semis. The other semi game had Columbia beating that Unseld Louisville team. We then lost a heartbreaker to Columbia in the final.

lets hope the time comes when the Redmen.comers do not have to go back 60+.- years for fond memories about St. John's successes.

Was at that one & Shorty Newmark, Jim McMillan & Haywood Dotson were formidable opponents.

Las Vegan, I am sure you are right. As a New Yorker I was probably rooting for both us and Columbia in the semi-finals. I remember Louisville getting upset. I guess over the years I have forgotten that it was Columbia who actually upset them. Thanks for the correction.

I love the reference to Steve Honzo--there was a ref who "believed" in home court advantage.

Biggest win--NC State in Denver 1985 to advance to final four. What a plane ride home! Also, the 1983 BE Championship with Billy Goodwin sitting on the rim--still have that SI. Thought the 1982/83 team was better than 1894/85 but loss of Jeff Allen hurt. Was at the Dome for horrid loss to Georgia-what a lousy place to watch a game in.
