Big June 6 Unofficial Visits

Echo the post above mine. I don't care if not one of these 15 commit, per se, but this shows we're committed to recruiting New York and it shows how hard working our staff is to have 15 stud recruits here at the same time. Nobody is sitting around here. How anyone can spin a negative on this is something I can't wrap my head around.

On a side note, multi-reply blows and makes this site a lot harder to read, IMHO.

Agree with all above, and thanks, but my "gut" ( BBall gut that is :) ) says three of the 15 will be ours, I'm going to keep track of our June 2015 views and compare with what transpires...
all good
All enjoyable
New wondrous era in SJU hoops
Have we ever had such excitement and legitimate possibilities?
Wow!

all the best

Sounds great. Regardless of the results of this visit I am so hyped up with Mullin and staff. This is first class. No doubt we will be successful for years to come.

@AdamZagoria: Sounds like Chris Mullin and St. John's put on quite the impressive show today for 15 recruits and their coaches. Story later.

Mr.Paultzman
Would you speculate on which recruit (s) and when - as to your observation that we would get a few commitments "this summer" in your post above...
Thanks!

Perhaps Heron & Ahmed with Ponds in the wings.

You think Ponds would be in addition to those guys? Or plan b?

Didnt realize that we had offered Ponds. Thought the staff was just keeping an eye on him.

I thought he was offered by Lavin. Not sure how that changes with a new coach.

I was basing my question about us having offered on this post by Knight a few weeks back on the Ponds thread:

@AdamZagoria: St. John's coach Chris Mullin met today with 2016 SG @ShamorieP of Thomas Jefferson. No offer yet, but will follow him this summer.

I know he's listed on Rivals and 247 as having an offer from us, but I assume that was from when Lavin was here.

Agree with your multi-replys opinion. :)

One benefit of recruiting NY hard that I'm looking forward to experiencing again under Mullin, is the effect having the local star on the team does for the enthusiasm and attention surrounding SJU.

Kids like Lance and Kyle Anderson had nice college careers, but they were stars in the tri-state in HS. When kids like that stay home and play for us, I think we draw in the casual basketball fan.

And it's not the same for other local schools. NYers forgot about Whitehead when he went to Seton Hall.

He was also on campus for the second time recently this weekend. The staff seems very interested, as they should be. If I had to guess, I think the staff wants Heron to commit first and might want to see how Ponds handles PG this summer. It's not a slow-play, but it's nice to show Heron wide open playing opportunity and hand him the keys to the car.

Agree Desco. It all feeds off each other. When an NYC kids stay home its usually good for them, good for their family, good for the school, good for local High School and AAU coaches, etc. Its not for every kid, some are better served going away. But we don't need every kid, just a few each year. I had gotten so sick and tired of hearing "it doesn't matter where we recruit kids from, blah, blah, blah, blah..........". The hell it doesn't! Chris is proving in very short order that only an idiot wouldn't take advantage the kind of talent that the NY/NJ area produces year in and year out. It may not be what it once was-although NJ is arguably better than ever-but it's still pretty damn good on sheer volume alone.
