I see UConn remaining patient and waiting for the next round of conference musical chairs.
They've invested too much in football to jump at this.

What year do you believe the "next round of conference musical chairs" will occur?
Given the fact that the ACC schools have assigned their media rights to the Conference (a/k/a "Grant of Rights") I don't believe there will be a reshuffling in the foreseeable future.
But for Grant of Rights I believe that one or more ACC teams would follow UMaryland to the B10 because of the greater revenue and academic advantages (see "CIC") which the B10 provides.
As an aside..... I had a conversation a few months ago with a gentleman whose title is "Senior Associate Athletic Director" at an ACC school who shared my belief that the 2003 lawsuit commenced by the state of Connecticut's then Attorney General (and current US Senator) Richard Blumenthal against the ACC, and which was settled by the ACC paying $3M is a factor in UConn having been overlooked by the ACC.

Per Jerry Carino from yesterday at MSG
Jim Calhoun on chances UConn returns to the Big East: “Not likely. Now if they can’t get into a (power five) conference, then they should do that (come back).
Lesser conferenceIf they go to the BE, where would their FB program go?

We as fans shouldn't want UConn back, and the BE shouldn't take them back. The whole point of the new Big East is to have similarly sized private schools with similar missions and resources and NO FOOTBALL. The conference is working well with that model. Leaving aside the fact that I loathe UConn generally, why would we take a big public school with taxpayer resources and FBS football? It simply makes no sense.
If Fox wants UConn, if available, end of story I suspect. I sense BE Commissioner would agree and Presidents would fall in line.
I don't think the BE should have a goal of having Christian private universities. They should go after the best BB centric universities that will help the brand. VCU is another example of a good addition IMO,even though they are public. We as fans shouldn't want UConn back, and the BE shouldn't take them back.
