Big East TV Contract Done

Thankfully that beatwriter was wrong. Looks like a pretty good deal after all.

"And Puck’s John Ourand has now provided clarity on the dollar figure, noting that the contract is worth around $80 million, a 95% increase from the previous contract’s $41 million or so average annual value."

How long is the big east season? 5 months? So there is $30. Then ur probably not remembering to cancel peacock so when its all said and done, that $72/year to watch a few big east games.

In the grand scheme of things, not a lot of money. But in principle, it stinks.
Someone's gotta pay for all the players making tons of money. Oh, wait....

I just skipped over to the last page here.
Having to pay for Peacock Subscription stinks !

That’s a lot of games that won’t be viewable for fans that don’t subscribe .,

Many of us are already paying a lot for Cable and not getting all games on Fox or TNT isn’t a good look for BE .

This is the way all sports are going. Before you know it, you will need to buy each game on an individual basis (or get the equivalent of a season ticket). Prices will go up until there are no more fans. Watching sports at home will be a luxury like going to the arena is now.

This is just a random guy, but Peacock definitely raised my eyebrows in terms of BE eventually reuniting with ND (while ND goes to B10 on "scheduling agreement). They'd probably raise the value of the entire BE TV deal + good program + national brand + can keep round robin. Hope it happens.

I think you raised a great point . And , very much to the future likelihood .
I do subscribe to Center Ice on Dish cable for about $75 a year.
I get every game , every night unless it’s being televised on the NHL Network or ESPN in its various components .
I can see the future being if you want to see every St John’s Game , home and away , it will cost you $75-$100 a season .
It’s just getting outrageous .
You want to watch the Kentucky Derby? It’s $ 25 for the Day . But , if you have Fan
Duel it will be $20 .
It’s coming to that .

And this is what will get a large percentage of fans to walk away from sports.

Young folks walked away from sports because they had other options/diversions that they found more enjoyable. Old people will walk away from sports because they die.

I hope I can still walk when I die as I'll walk over to MSG or Carnesecca and still be able to watch the Johnnies. 😜

My neighborhood in Queens wasn't wired for cable until 1990 so this is exactly how I watched the Redmen growing up.

People think Paramount is a pain next season?

How about driving around looking for a bar that carried the Sweater game in 1985 on ESPN and then asking the bartender to let in your 10 yo (me) son...
