I am sure you will make the sacrifice if it means getting more looks at Hurley. We will now have to pay for Peacock to stream st johns games. Just awful.
I already miss the mom and pop feel of fs1 carrying us.

But I thought the idea is not to be a mom and pop conference. 5.99 a month and i think there are promos for 1.99 out there. We will now have to pay for Peacock to stream st johns games. Just awful.

How long is the big east season? 5 months? So there is $30. Then ur probably not remembering to cancel peacock so when its all said and done, that $72/year to watch a few big east games. But I thought the idea was not to be a mom and pop conference. 5.99 a month and i think there are promos for 1.99 out there.
I hear you. Thank goodness for outlook reminders in this day and age of a la carte entertainment! How long is the big east season? 5 months? So there is $30. Then ur probably not remembering to cancel peacock so when its all said and done, that $72/year to watch a few big east games.
In the grand scheme of things, not a lot of money. But in principle, it stinks.
How can you say that without knowing the #s or all the details? As a staunch Ackerman critic, this deal seems impressive and credit to her due. Certainly keeps the BE very relevant to say the least.
Yeah if that's the increase, its rough. Probably gets a B+ on visibility of the conference but a D/F on the $.How can you say that without knowing the #s or all the details?
The rumored 30-40% increase sounds awful. We signed the last deal 11 years ago without UConn and we looked like a dying conference. 30% doesn’t even cover 11 years worth of inflation.
Our teams have won, what, 5 national championships since then? We have the back-to-back defending national champs and their coach who just publicly turned down the Lakers. St. John’s, a TV giant, has arguably the best coach in the last 50 years and top 20 NIL funds.
We were in the driver’s seat for possibly the last time.
Got Peacock last year for introductory price of $20 for the year because they had an NFL playoff game (they used to be free). Got renewed at $59.95 this year a day before I tried to cancel now I guess it's just as well I still have it as they still also have NFL playoff game and now BE hoops. How long is the big east season? 5 months? Plus adding all of these TV partners, you'd hope its more money in the potHopefully the financial rumors aren't accurate, because that small of an increase would be really mediocre. I was hoping we'd double our payments given we've added UConn, women's basketball (wasn't included in first contract), won 4 titles, are no longer unproven, added streaming, inflation, etc. In 2013 the financial terms were disclosed in the headlines, so the Big East wouldn't hide them if they were satisfied.
Between this and losing both of our conference challenges in the past year, Val has not impressed (and I defended her for the first decade).
That’s shortsighted. That’s like saying you like watching people scuba dive but you don’t care how much air is on their tanks. As a BE fan, the $’s mean nothing to me, that is the business of the schools as far as I am concerned. The exposure is the only criteria I judge the deal by and there is plenty of that.

I have said this for years so what is once more. UConn was never going to be much help in network negotiations because they keep making it clear they want out.
When UConn courts every last football conference any chance it gets (just last year while these negotiations were surely underway UConn was trying to leave for B12) I’m sure the television folks notice.
And as far as I know nothing has been done before this contract to raise members exit fees. If you don’t make it painful for members to leave, really painful, networks aren’t sure what they are buying. That depresses your product.
Easy prediction. If we go to the Boneyard in a day or two the point of view on the contract will be “this is why we have to get out of the Big East”.
UConn is not interested in the survival of the league, they are actively looking to help destroy it while using it in the short term.
I know most, if not all, of you do but I don’t care. I will watch games because I love ball, no other reason. I see no reason to really care If the teams I like are non-competitive, so be it; I don’t think the whole conference will be that and I have rooted for the conference for the vast majority of what seems like forever or at least since Louie retired. The issue is NIL now that schools will start directly paying athletes and I believe some may offer a percent of the TV revenue. This small of an increase doesn't seem would be competitive
You can easily control for a UConn exit with conditional language.I have said this for years so what is once more. UConn was never going to be much help in network negotiations because they keep making it clear they want out.
