Big East TV Contract Done

I think the other thread was locked, here's the official details:

I'm sure dollar figures will come out from beat writers.

TV breakdowns:
FOX Sports: will feature at least 80 BIG EAST men’s and women’s basketball contests across the regular season and postseason beginning in 2025-26.

Peacock/NBC Sports: will present more than 60 men’s and women’s regular season and BIG EAST Tournament games. They will also have 25 this year.

TNT: will feature more than 65 regular season BIG EAST basketball games airing on TNT – as its primary network – along with TBS, truTV and Max, beginning with the 2025-26 season.

Unclear in the press release how much will be on Fox vs. FS1 vs. FS2, or NBC vs. NBC Sports vs. Peacock, or even TNT vs. TBS vs. truTV vs. Max.

But this seems very good imho

CBS and CBS Sports Network done for our conference games.
No more Steve Lappas, but on bright side no Rothstein sideline reports.

I feel like there’s no more innovation left in tv. I would have mic’d coaches from the start of the league. Our tv/digital side needed to bring a new dimension. Thought they dropped the ball.

Obviously we'll see what happens but I was excited to see
"In-depth highlights and ancillary content across all platforms, including Bleacher Report, House of Highlights, and more."

Reach a younger audience, go more digital. TNT will be motivated after losing NBA package. Their NCAA Tournament deal will also expire in 2032, so they'd want this to work.

Curious how this works. Fox/fs1 is for basketball and the other networks are for the other sports?
They keep this vague since it doesn't decipher what the breakdown is between men's and women's sports, but I think it'll be split between Fox/NBC/Peacock/TNT.

There's 220 Big East games in a season (11 teams playing 20 games, so 11 x 20), so TNT is doing "more than" 65 + NBC/Peacock doing "more than" 60 + Fox doing "at least 80" adds up roughly to that number.

Also leads to the question about expansion since these TV partners should have an idea of what schools add to the value of the contract + becomes a boost for its inventory. Those vague numbers make me think that they may want more games to air.

No. All will carry basketball and to have access to all games will have to pay up for streaming services Peacock and Max

Just thinking about this but this obviously means CBS will no longer have any Big East games.

My God think about how long CBS and the Big East have had an association. Going back to the 80s.

Raftery will not only do Big East games on Fox.

It does. CBS used to sublicense from Fox. They tried to squeeze in a fourth package but apparently couldn't get it done. Looking at the breakdown of where games will be aired, I don't see Fox having much wiggle room to sublicense at this point.

Well, there's two teams playing every game so there's actually 110 BE games in a season..

As long as both non-conference & conf will both still be able to be seen somewhere, I'm OK with the multi channel.

Just wasn't clear on non-conf.

Non-con is not included in the conference package, is it? The four high major games will be out of contract for sure.
