NEW YORK – The BIG EAST Conference has announced the bracket for the 2021 BIG EAST Tournament Presented by Jeep which returns to Madison Square Garden for the 39th consecutive year.

The BIG EAST Tournament will be held March 10-13 at the World’s Most Famous Arena.  FOX Sports, the conference’s television partner, will continue its wall-to-wall coverage with FS1 televising all nine games in the first three days of the Tournament before the FOX broadcast network carries the championship game on Saturday, March 13, at 6:30 p.m. ET.  The BIG EAST Tournament at Madison Square Garden is college basketball’s longest running conference tournament held at the same venue.

With the readmission of the University of Connecticut giving the BIG EAST 11 teams, the Tournament will have an additional game in the first round.  The tripleheader on Wednesday, March 10, begins with the No. 8 seed meeting the No. 9 seed at 3 p.m.  The No. 7 seed battles the No. 10 seed at 6 p.m. and the No. 6 seed plays the No. 11 seed at 9 p.m.

The three first-round winners advance to the quarterfinal round on Thursday, March 11, which begins at noon.  The quarterfinal winners meet in the semifinal round on Friday, March 12, at 6 p.m.

If we get 3 straight 9 PM or later starts, that means we have won 2 BET games.  As much as I hate the late games, I'd sign up for that!

mjmaherjr's couch can ap0preciate the 9pm games. mjmaherjr if I was going to the games wouldnt appreciate them :)

Or we can win the next 2 games and creep into one of the the 5 and above seeds.   Xavier had no business up there IMO.   They should rank based on number of league wins and then tie-break based on who you won or lost to if even number of wins.  If you played half the games, well then that's where the chips fall, but a team with only 5 league wins can't be placed in the top half of the league. It's absurd.  The extra BET game would do them good as they've been resting for it all season.  If that's the case, we should have stopped playing games 2 losses ago and cruised into the top 5.

And the final is scheduled for Saturday at 6:30pm, just to throw off our rhythm.  I knew it.  /media/kunena/emoticons/devil.png

If we end up the 6 seed I don't really hate the path.

- get our revenge on DePaul
- beat The Hall

And boom we are back against creighton in the BET. Where we belong. Where we were a year ago.

optimistic jack is back baby! Run the table! #johnnies

Just have to avoid ending up in that 8/9 game which seems where we've been in the last few years. You have an early game on Wednesday and then play even earlier on Thursday, so no break. In that position, we ended up getting blown out in the second game over the past few years.

UCONN actually jumped over Seton Hall for third yesterday, but the head-to-head matchup between the two this week, will likely decide that.

Right now, the Big East Tourney semifinals could very well be Villanova, Creighton, Connecticut and probably Xavier. We would have had a better shot , except we caught DePaul on the rare day they played a strong game.
The women's tourney is much easier to handicap. Uconn will beat every other school by 20-70 points.

I want no part of DePaul again.  That's a bad match-up for us.  Butler, Xavier, Georgetown, Marquette all much more appetizing.

I'm surprised they're proceeding with the BE Tournament. There's not much money in it without large crowds.

The tournament experience is a benefit for the Johnnie's young players. Hopefully they'll play well.

Are there conferences not proceeding with their tournaments?  I admittedly have been paying next to no attention to college ball this year .

TV contract with Fox is part of it.

Hope Monte has a good time at the tournament. /media/kunena/emoticons/smile.png
