Big East Tournament Seeding

With Villanova and Georgetown playing early games on Saturday, we'll know our fate before our 530p tipoff and whether we need to win to avoid Wednesday. Not sure that is a good thing or bad thing for this team...

Separately I saw an ESPN prediction article yesterday where 2 of their 4 analysts had STJ winning the BE Tourney...can't see how that happens other than getting some favorable matchups. Seems that many of the scenarios where we get a Top 6 seed have us playing Xavier or Georgetown on Thursday...either would be tough to get a W.

OT, but how is it we failed to get Max Strus?
Joking.
It’s how I deal with stress.
Death row humor..
It’s in our hands.
Beat Xavier.

I appreciate the help with the various scenarios. MIT, did a Johnny go to MIT??

Will have to wait until Saturday to firm up plans.

I sure hope for NCJOHNNIE's sake, we don't play Wednesday, and that if we do, that we win Wednesday. It would be awful the other way around.

G-Town losing so badly to DePaul makes me think two things that our losses to Dep (esp the one at their place) maybe weren't as awful as I thought. Or on the other hand G Town is not as good as they seem and we should have had them both times.

Thanks for the well wishes BJR. Fortunately, in addition to hopefully seeing the Johnnies play on Thursday I am using the trip north to visit with my three twenty something daughters. When my job relocated me to NC in 2011 they were already in late teens/ early twenties and New Jersey girls at heart, so all wound up back in either NJ or NYC. Even if by some cruel twist of fate, Johnnies don't play Thursday I will enjoy my time with them, see some good basketball on Thursday and meet up with a few friends. Would be a disappointment for sure, but I am betting it won't happen!

A lifetime Redmen fan went to grad school at MIT - I was engineer undergrad so SJU was not an option, but lifelong fan...remember when my dad used to carry me into Alumni Hall to the games - if he carried me in I didn't need a ticket, but grew-up going to games through my college years. Now in FL, I was able to see the GT game, and thankfully all games on FS.

As much as the last 18 years have been painful there are few things I look forward to more than SJU season starting. Hoping we make some noise in the BE Tourney, and win a game or two in the dance!

One of the stats from last game vs Xavier is the disparity of fouls . X was 25-33 from the line . We were 4-5 in our own building . While we are a foul prone team, the 21 point differential was mind boggling . There were a number of calls on the offensive end for us where X clearly had fouled but , we got no call . While many Fouls are in the Black and White category and being obvious , many others are entirely in the Gray area and such a huge edge to X just doesn’t seem equitable . Ponds , in particular is not getting to the line as much as in the past . And , I think it’s pretty obvious he’s getting no calls on 90 percent of his going to the hoop shots . Inconceivable in the way he plays ! It’s a real problem in trying to win games and has been for the BE Season . Heron rarely gets the blocking call on his drives to the basket but. does get more than a fair share of charges on him . Blocking and charging are bang bang plays but , they should average out to about 50 / 50 . Not giving either team unfair advantage .

Thanks MIT Storm for filling us in on your MIT/SJU connection, those schools have so much in common (;-) # 3 and #333(maybe).

Anyhow, great to have you as a fan for so long and let's go Johnnies (and let's go Engineers too).

Still a lot of possibilities as to where we finish if we lose tomorrow. Looks like anywhere between 5th and 8th.There is definitely a scenario where we would need Creighton to beat DePaul.

We control our destiny in both the BE and the NCAA

Win and were in the dance
Win and we have the premier time throughout the BET - The latest game every night. #3 Seed.

Find a way to win this game at all costs. This is it, The time is now.

It's obvious with this team we should expect the unexpected

I've been expecting our season to be ruined over these next two games. Which of course means we'll somehow decimate Xavier.

I've been dreading the short turnaround for BET and March Madness. But now I'm starting to think it's to our benefit because it's too short of a time to turn from Jekyll to Hyde.

Didn’t see this posted anywhere. Sorry for the poor format. I’m technologically challenged!

Let me get my popcorn ready, this thread is gonna get interesting for the next few hours regardless of what happens in the X game.

As pissed as I am right now I’m pleased with the bracket for the big east tourney. Couldn’t have asked for better matchups the first few rounds. That said. I’m not expecting a win lol

Hope for one W but no way this team can keep up for more than one game back to back days.

Awful.

DePaul has to win in order for us to play Butler. If Creighton wins, then it's DePaul for us.
