Big East Statement

I mean, do they realize they are protecting three referees while kicking one of their own conference programs in the teeth?

There has to be something more to this than we are collectively realizing. A lie that is so incredibly obvious is being perpetuated in an official statement. That's a big deal. Makes me wonder what the ramifications would be if the Big East admitted actual fault. Maybe it triggers a series of events and protocol that would be more damaging than supporting false statements? None of this adds up. It's a lie that can be verified on video. Everyone knows the truth, Seton Hall included. Stephens was looking at the play, not the clock, AND the clock DID start. 2 + 2 = 5. I don't see any path to justice on this one; the game, schedule and news cycles move way too fast. Ackerman and Jackson "should" be forced to resign and Stephens and the clown crew should be banned from officiating Big East games.

Amazing that such intelligent people like Ackerman and Jackson think the rest of us are such idiots that they can try to tell us what we thought we saw was not what we saw. Yet there it is recorded on my TV. So I can watch in high resolution confirming what I thought I saw.
Your statement really summarizes the issue perfectly. I cannot comprehend how the ref could notice that the clock had not moved in the time it took from LJ to deflect the ball until it hit the floor. This is what we must somehow believe. Also this was not inadvertent. He 100% saw that the clock had not moved and thought this was the proper call. Perhaps he should have watched the last play closer as I thought I saw another .04 lag before the clock started. In the long run maybe thus will benefit us as any close calls may swing our way for a long time.
If the ref asses the inbounds play, watch the clock and react that fast, offer him a schollie. We need that kind of quickness on D. ;)

Seriously, how hard is it to say we "Sorry, the official f'ed up"? It's sports. It happens. Own it, take your beating and move on. Big East leadership looks like a joke.

Just followed-up my last email with the following................

Ms. Ackerman and Mr. Jackson,

I concluded my previous email by stating “I am looking forward to learning more about your leadership style”. I now have all I need to know. Your statement today is far worse than I could possibly have imagined. You have asked the fans to swallow the absolute unbelievable.

Your statement informed us that an investigation was executed. So, I am going to assume you watched the replay several times. When/if you watch it again, recall that you have accepted the referee’s assertion that he perceived a delay in the clock’s activation. Two questions:

1. Does it matter that he was not even looking at a clock when he blew the whistle? This is provable.
2. Are we to believe he misperceived a problem and blew the whistle in less than one second?

For some unexplained reason, you have decided to enable a referee’s fabrication and essentially kick one of your own program’s in the teeth. It’s worth noting that, beyond St. Johns’ fan base, the media unananomously finds your “investigation” and subsequent position to be egregious. There are many examples to choose from, but my favorites are from the NY Post’s Mike Vaccaro and Zach Braziller (attached). When it comes to the poposterous nature of your stance, their commentary says it all.

Please know you have both completely lost the support and confidence of the entire SJU fan base and local media. The call was awful, but your response is unforgiveable. When you reflect upon your new and extreme unpopularity in the New York area, recall the moment you decided we might not be astute enough to evaluate the situation.

Absolute shame, void of any leadership.

It is a joke; actually Bug East leadership is an oxymoron
Here is the letter I just wrote to Ackerman, Jackson, and Cahill..............

The truth should always win out. Please reconsider the statement you just put out. It is never too late to tell the truth.
Hey “adavis1”
Don’t be stranger. Please post more often.

It’s like the old Seinfeld episode where the dry cleaner never admits they were at fault and all that Jerry wants is for them to admit they shrunk his shirt. Finally after all of the excuses the dry cleaner admits they shrunk the shirt.

I thought there was questionable officiating way before the last one call. Just really seemed like the refs were stretching the home team advantage making call after call on st John's many be offensive which we know can mean 4 point swings....24-14 fouls.....I hope we get that same kind of treatment tomorrow...

Less than twenty four hours ago a referee blows his whistle when he shouldn't have and because of the thinking to never admit you made a mistake you have a situation where at least one of his partner referees and the commissioner and ass't. commissioner of a major college basketball conference have been exposed as liars and lacking integrity.
This would be acceptable in the political world but in the environment of college athletics this type of conduct cannot be tolerated. As I posted earlier Ackerman and Jackson will make very few decisions that puts their honesty in question but their first test they failed miserably.

I hope the team plays with an edge the rest of the season and with the keen sense to not again let themselves fall victim to the whims of the refs and steal a win from them.

If this sudden bullshit conference leadership has taught us anything is it’s us against them and the officials and we need more rage. As a New Years pardon can we release Zaun from rookie forum and bring his rage back ? This game would have been a classic to have him back. He’d probably be calming me and my cursing down

Worst call by a referee vs SJU since Feb 1980 when the Louis Orr charge was called a block on Reggie Carter. It was building all game with quick whistles against us while several were "missed" vs Seton Hall, notably the obvious walking violation. Refs seem to have it in for Coach Mullin. Let's hope that is now over.
Unfortunately, can't completely overlook that there was a missed front end of a one & one in both games.

I think the new AD has told CM to lay off the refs during the games He really controlled himself during this situation and many of us think he should have been more vocal . I believe he should lay off the refs but i also believe somrtimes you have to pick your fights. In this instance he should have picked a fight .

Working the refs is done at every level and by every coach. New AD has no right to tell CM how to handle refs.

I couldn't do it, and stay off.

Yep, you pick your fights. Sometimes you gotta let things off. Obvious shit, you just gotta get your point across, you can f with with me, but don't f with my boys.
I would have been screaming right in his face, and I'd dare the other refs to get in my way

Guys, let's not try to turn this horrendous refereeing job and worse BE leadership performance into a Chris Mullin bashing. He handled it with class and will have his team ready to use it as motivation against Marquette. Let's go Johnnies!!!

Well, I disagree that this behavior should be accepted in ‘any’ world, but I do think it has infested our society, germinating from the ‘political’ world with culprits populating ‘both sides of the aisle’ and has become a major cultural / ethical issue that threatens our entire fabric.
But I digress.
Let’s keep it to hoops: yeah, it undermines the integrity of the Conference and the sport.
