My initial concern was that the Big East brand and Fox sports broadcasts would hurt the leagues recruiting which the 15 kids being 4's or 5's would seem to contradict. In particular I was pleased to see that Xavier and Butler had done well since my understanding is that those 2 schools customarily recruited 2* and 3* recruits.

Bob I think you mean Creighton, not Xavier.

The only year this century that Xavier had a class without any 4 star recruits was 2007 (besides 2009 when they didn't sign anyone).

It's going to be a long season competing against this talent with our bubble team that loses Sanchez and replaces him with Christian Jones.

I'm a lot more concerned with next recruiting cycle. I think we'll get De La Rosa and will be thrilled if we swoop in and land Cunningham, who according to a recent post we are still somewhat involved with.

We will... Be patient my friends

Darrick Woods coming :)

We will not be getting any Rivals Top 150 players. Because there are barely any available and we are not involved with any.

I think Lavin is confident he'll have Jordan, Dlo, CO, Jakarr Greene, along with Branch, Pointer next season. More to the point, He's cast his lot with the guys he recruited from his 1st class and is willing to take it as it plays for next year.
IMHO, this core group is not capable of winning the BE next year but, could finish in the top 4 , not much different than this year.. There are important pieces missing from this team and hopefully, our Wizard will pull a few choice recruits out of his hat this spring.

We need a real shooter and big man..

So your ok with possibly not making the NCAA's again next year and starting again with the same old excuses of a young team in 2015? I would have rather recruited a couple of studs in 2014(like Villanova and Georgetown) to add to our core and go for it next year. Delarosa is not going to make the difference unless he can lose thirty pounds, greatly improve his foot work, conditioning and strength. Darrick Wood is another body like Balamou or Jones that won't do much for us and I do not see us listed as involved with much else. Hope I am wrong.

I'm not OK with missing this year, much less next. But our biggest need is a big man, and for all De La Rosa's flaws, he seems to be able to catch passes and put them in the hoop. I'll leave the body shaping to the pros on staff. There are only a handful of programs that consistently get near-complete or complete package centers, leaving us and the other 295 teams to scramble. I'm OK with bringing in an unfinished product as long as the staff does something with it. I've flip-flopped on De La Rosa all season, but I think he can give us something as soon as next season if he works hard over the summer.

Our next need I think is a legit small forward, preferably one who can put the ball in the hoop, or at least be willing to rebound. Cunningham would be a dream at this point. I'd be happy with Wood or Henderson, because I think they can blend well with the current makeup.

I think Sanchez has a lot of talent, but the best you can say about his production is that it has been inconsistent. I'm not sure that his numbers can't be replaced or exceeded by Jones.

If there are no defections, I think our team will be just fine next year. It would be good to add another big.

The issue is that if there are defections we are probably screwed, and if there aren't then we will again be starting from scratch in 15/16. We have never recovered from the Norm class-stacking.

I started this thread to highlight that IMO the Big East has done pretty good recruiting which is important for Conference security and stability. I was concerned that Conference recruiting would fall off this season after the Syracuse and Pitts fled to the ACC and the Conference moved from ESPN.. Fortunately my concern was misplaced.

This is a disgrace. I don't care if I get flamed for this either.

Coach knew he had 3 seniors on the roster to replace. Regardless of his large group of returning players next year, he should've worked harder last summer knowing that our front court was going to get decimated.

I thought we said he worked best when he only had to focus on 1 or 2 players?

He's putting a lot on the shoulders of his seniors next year while every other BE team will be developing players for '15 when we bring in a bunch of freshmen.

Guys like Dom, Branch and Hooper will need to make leaps this offseason. I mean stratospheric leaps. If Coach wasn't going to bring in any top flight recruits, then he has to ensure that these kids develop over the summer.

And has anyone noticed how bad Jakarr's form has been? He has gone from two-hand shots in the lane to one-handed flip shots? It shows a lack of confidence and a lack of development. He's starting to remind me of a Quincy Miller type of garbage man player and less like a skilled, fluid Harkless.
