Big East in the NCAA Tournament

Sux Nova lost. But hardly embarrassing they lost to Nc state....they beat duke and UNC...why wouldn't they have a chance v nova on a neutral court? They were too good for an eight seed.

Poppycock!
Jay Wright should be fired for not making it out of the 2nd round with a number 1 seed.
It is over at Nova!

tough loss did not get good looks at end of regulation. Had their chances. This game was a toss up
but the Nova game is what makes the Big East look bad.

Like it or not the BIG EAST got it's nose bloodied in this round of 32!

NC state had big bodies to bang with Nova and a great point guard to slice through its defense.
Meanwhile Xavier has reached the sweet 16 for the 5th time in 7 years!
Nova is no Xavier in post season. And Jay Wright? Well a picture is worth a 1,000 words.

Novs is a total embarrassment to the league. When you flagship goes down to an also ran your league looks bad. I am sure FOX sports is not happy at all.

I've agreed with Marillac lately, but there is no way to sugar coat this loss. Villanova did lose to an "also ran" of the ACC. I didn't see the game (as, I was at a birthday gathering), but IMO, this is a game 'Nova shouldn't lose. Point blank.

This kinda loss doesn't look good for our conference.

If Villanova is an embarrassment, what does that make St. John's?

No comparison. We were a No. 9 seed who lost to an No. 8 seed. Nova was a No.1 seed and the overall No.2 seed in the entire tournament and did not make it out of the Round of 32 (just like last year when they were a No. 2 seed). That is worst.

Several of us posted about the Big 12s initial showing in this tourney, but theBig East did not come up very big as there were six and now there is one.

Bullshit technical called on Ed Cooley. This official should go back to the CYO

I agree it was a bad call but I never felt Providence was going to come back and when that game.

Well, Villanova will have a shot at the dance again next year, hopefully they will represent better. I doubt we will have the same opportunity.

Clearly anything can happen in "Madness" but Val Ackerman & Stu Jackson can't be high fiving each other right now. Have always liked the program Wright has built, but must acknowledge his Tourney experience has been underwhelming in last five years or so if I recall correctly. Xavier, who I also like as a program, was also fortunate to play Georgia State in second round. Plain & simple a tough Tourney for BE. Thst doesn't mean it is a weak league, but man what a disappointment.

Big East is not representing... and to think, I has scoffing at the Big 12 the other day.

At this point, my two favorite teams are:
1) Xavier
2) Anybody playing an ACC school, including Kentucky

It's turning out the only thing good about the tournament is Ballin', TargetStyle.

This is what you never like to happen to your league:

Yes, but the immediate focus is almost always on how the top seed lost the game when it happens in the second round. NC State will get their credit and coverage Monday through Thursday for this win. Also, thank you NC State for making the middle of the ACC look a lot better. The fact that the sixth ACC team upset a 1-seed to make it to the Sweet 16, only makes the seventh best ACC team's exclusion (Miami) look like that much more of a mistake. Also, the ACC is now a perfect 9-0 in this tournament. Hopefully, Virginia, Duke and Louisville help the ACC push that record to 12-0 tomorrow!

When Jay Wright talks all this nonsense about "owning it" and how this doesn't "define us as a team", it comes off as a hustle. Players play the game, and Villanova was downright awful tonight. How much of that falls on Wright and how much falls on the players is up for debate, but this game isn't some anomaly on an otherwise stellar record. Wrights teams have a tendancy of playing awful when the spotlight shines brightest.

Whatever "owning it" means, it clearly DOESNT mean Wright will have his teams better prepared in the future. He's certainly had his fair share of opportunities. I don't know much, but I know that.

This team was overrated to begin with. There's a reason the ACC is 9-0 and likely to be 12-0 after today. The best conference prepares you to play against anyone. NC state was simply not intimidated
