Big 12 Talking Expansion

What weight does UConn carry right now? They currently have an OK basketball program, terrible football program and women sports is....a yawn.

I don't really understand what are the Big 12, Sec and Big 10 looking to do? They want to poach teams from the ACC? I would not be upset if after all the poaching the ACC did that the conference falls apart. Could not happen to a nice group of people, lol.

The men's basketball program is OK? They have a top 3-5 recruiting class for 2016 and are in good shape with some top 2017 recruits. Granted, the football program is terrible, but "women sports are a yawn"? If the women's basketball program is a yawn, it's because they put fans to sleep by regularly crushing their opponents by 40-50 points. (And, not to sound sexist, who really cares about other women's sports?)

Big 12 no longer needs to expand
The reason to expand was to be able to have a championship football game
I believe that it can happen if they play a round robin regular season schedule

Couldn't care less about UC going to the Big 12, although I don't fully get the conference's interest in them. I just don't want to see UConn going to a power conference.

Same here, let uconn rot right where they are.

I'd love for the B12, B10 and SEC poach the shit out of the ACC. I want the ACC to die

It's easy to get confused when the big 12 has 10 teams and the big 10 has 12.

Yes, and confused you too because the Big 10 has 14 teams. B)

Maybe he was confusing them with the Big 14, which has 12. Or is that the Big 16?

I think the Big 10 gets to 16 at the expense of the ACC sooner rather than later, which will confuse things even more.

If I were the Big 12, i'd go after Boise St and BYU.

Agree. And kick out Rutgers!

Rutgers is big10 but you are right they should get booted.

Rutgers will never get booted from the Big Ten
Rutgers wasn't picked because they have a great athletic program
It was because The Big Ten Network wanted to gain entry into the NY metro area market

I guess it didn't work because I don't know anyone who watches their sorry programs.

I know I always plan my autumn weekends around those Rutgers telecasts. :)

After watching St. Joseph's with another stellar performance in the A-Ten tournament it baffles me that they are never mentioned in Big East expansion talks. Private college, good basketball tradition, rich religious affiliation and a natural Big Five rivalry with Villanova.

Although I do love the ten team round robin format, I still think ideally I would prefer a 12 team league. Dayton would also seem a prudent choice for many of the same reasons as St. Joe's. They were competitive in conference with the DePauls and Marquettes in past conference lives. Plus Miller is an outstanding coach.

VCU I don't think fits as well due to size and mission.

Wichita St. would be intriguing to add a natural rival to Creighton and tradition similar to other mid-major to major programs in Big East.

Thoughts folks. Do we think we might see expansion in the near future

Other conference movement suggestions -Iona, Hofstra, James Madison, Stony Brook to Atlantic Ten
Valpo to Missouri Valley, SMU , UTEP, BYU to Big 12? New Mexico St., Hawaii to Mountain West. Memphis Southeast Conference

I think Hofstra should move to the A-10 but dont know if Stony Brook would be cut our for them athletically. I think they have their Niche in the American East
