If I were the Big East and I wanted to expand, I would offer Dayton and VCU. if Georgetown had a problem with VCU then I would as St. Louis.
It will be interesting to see how a Big 12 invite would affect UConn recruiting in this area and nationwide

It would improve their football recruiting for sure. Not sure how significantly it changes what they already do in basketball.

Has being in the B12 improved Rutgers' football recruiting? I really don't know since I don't follow college football much, especially Rutgers. Just curious.

From what I hear, the Big East is very happy with its current 10-team alignment. (However, nothing's written in stone ... especially in college athletics.)

The Big East will add additional if, and when, Fox Sports wants the Big East to expand.
what makes it funny is that SMU is NOT in the big 12 when there basketball team is doing good and its a matter of time before there football program wakes up from there huge nap but they want uconn can you imagine them playing against texas baylor and A&M? there gonna get blown out every game lol

SMU got left out the first time around when the old Southwest Conference merged with the Big 8, and I don't think they were considered at all when TCU joined. For whatever reason, I don't think they will ever be a consideration.
Maybe other schools think elevating SMU to their level would mean losing a valuable piece of the Dallas recruiting pie.

interesting. Could definitely see espn looking out for uconnI don't know how many of you guys follow this twitter account (@MHver3) He does come at it from the football side and has been correct about this stuff in the past. Interesting info if true. I don't want UConn to get a sniff. What happens with DUKE, UNC and other basketball powers in the ACC (Syracuse, Pitt ect...)

ESPN wants sec and B12 to play nice. Needs them to stay strong.backdoor deals with sec that 2 schools in B12 were working on, will not be endorsed by ESPN and will be fought .
ESPN wants Uconn in B12 for TV market purposes for the LHN/B12N. Simple as that. Also gives B12 another blueblood in BB.
ESPN will let B12 and SEC get the big programs left in ACC(UM FSU Clemson VT) and refill the ACC remnants with AAC teams and pay them less.
ESPN needs to protect what it has with ACC and B12 but does not want a merger if ACC loses schools to B10-can't afford to pay competitive shares to 20 schools in a mega conf.
